A DELICIOUS meal for a chilly Sunday evening! We "lightened" this up a little by not using all the butter called for. We also cubed boneless/skinless chicken breasts/thighs and added them to the cooking onion mixture as it sped up the process. We didn't add in the pearl onions as there were already enough onions. Fresh carrots and peas as Ina calls for are terrific. We're considering adding in small button mushrooms next time. Thanks, Ina, for always having such great ideas and great recipes!!

This is an excellent winter dish. VERY heavy almost like a potpie. I also adjusted the recipe a bit. I swapped out 1 cup of stock for 1 cup of white wine. I also added an extra tablespoon of sugar to the biscuits. This is such an amazing meal.. .I love all of Ina's recopies.

The first time I made this I followed the instructions to the letter. The second time I made it, I left out the cream, the pearl onions, made a true mirepoix with onions, celery, and carrots in the butter in the beginning, and cut back on the peas. You definitely have to heat the stock, but I didn't use the broth cubes.

Super! I too omitted pearl onions, and decreased salt by 1/2 in stew and biscuits. You must taste to adjust seasonings to your liking. I used my home made stock, which is seasoned pretty well to begin with. I also added 2 ribs of chopped celery with the carrots and cooked them in the broth. A very important step. Heating the broth makes for a much better sauce. NO LUMPS : I also use the celery tops instead of parsley in stew. ENJOY!

So Delicious and comforting! I've made this several times and my family of 5 loves it! I skip the pearl onions, use 2% milk and make my own Bisquik biscuits. I also roast the chicken a day ahead to cut down on time.

Ina never lets me down! I only had boneless chicken breasts so I diced them and tossed with flour and sauteed in a French Oven before the onions. I also used fat-free Half-n-Half for the stew and biscuits and it was still amazing.

YUMMY! Biscuits are bit sticky to work with so I just rolled the dough out and placed the whole sheet on the mixture. Great recipe for a rainy night!

Wonderful recipe!!! I cut the small whole onions in half because the first time I made this recipe, the onions were a little strong. The ultimate comfort food on a cold, rainy fall day.

Use the stew part in a deep dish pie plate and cover it with vented pie crust draped over plate that has been painted with egg wash...makes a yummy pot pie.

Good, but I cheated by using Grands biscuits. I think I am going to try her biscuits one day, but I definitley enjoyed this and so did my family. The first time I made this, I have no idea what happened but my biscuits were hard as a rock. I am not a novice baker, so I was disappointed. Maybe I overworked the dough inadvertently, but I decided not try again. This is the first biscuit in over 20 years that did not work for me.
