I made this recipe for my Granddaughter's seventh birthday. She invited 9 little girls and I made 12 cupcakes (with box mix. Because she loves chocolate AND peanut butter this was perfect. Everyone wanted seconds, this icing was a big hit with every little girl they all wanted another one,but the top only! Next time I am going to go the extra mile and make Ina's cupcakes. It's a KEEPER

Usually Ina's recipes are tasty and worth keeping. This is terrible I had to throw the cupcakes away. They were that bad.

I made these and took them to the office - they were gone in minutes.
I had to hand out copies of the recipe to everyone.

I just bought store chocolate muffin mix, but the peanut butter icing was really great. I expected the icing to be a little thicker, but it still was amazing.

these are SO GOOD! love the combination of p.b. and chocolate! they are so moist and the icing is to die for!! made some changes- personal preferance and lack of supplies. didn't have x-large eggs, so used 2 whole large eggs and 1 egg white. liked someone's idea to use choc. syrup instead of coffee but #1 ing. listed is high fructose corn syrup, so used sugar free hot fudge ice cream topping instead. didn't have heavy cream so used lowfat milk for the icing. it made 24 cupcakes as previously stated and only took 15 min to bake- watch carefully and don't over-bake!

I followed the recipe to the letter. Cupcakes were moist and flavorful without being too sweet. I wouldn't change the cupcake recipe. Icing was a smidge too peanutbuttery. Next time I'll reduce to 3/4 cup pb and see what happens. I may increase the confectioners suger just a smidge. All in all an excellent recipe.

I didn't have time to make the cupcakes by scratch so I made a store box cupcake mix. However, I did make the peanut butter icing and it was pretty good. You have to really love peanut butter to like the icing.
