This recipe was very easy to make. I added a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter for some extra chocolate flavor. The chocolate ganache was also very easy to make and delicious.
I did not find that the cupcakes were not sweet enough or too sweet. I thought the amount of sweetness was just right, even with the added chocolate chips. I only had 8 ounces, and not 11 ounces of choclate syrup the recipe called for. Maybe that had something to do with it.
The only change I would make is to bake them for less time, maybe 20 minutes, instead of the recommended 30 minutes. They were a little dry at the bottom.
I tested this recipe so that I can serve these cupcakes to my grandchildren for dessert the next time they come over to Grandma's house for pizza night. I am sure they will love them.

Well this review is tricky because the cupcakes I made look lovely. TASTE on the other hand was completely disappointing for a few reasons. First, cupcakes & ganache were not at all sweet.
Seemed the immense amount of chocolate in the chocolate syrup created this odd reaction and absorbed all the sweet taste the cupcake could have had! Completely made these cupcakes not sweet, but tasted more like mud, as per my children.
Honestly this cupcake tastes like a slightly sweet mud. And yes my cupcake was moist and perfect texture. I sometimes wonder where these food TV people find their recipes and what they consider GREAT may not necessarily be what the normal person would consider so good. I am guessing some people don't like sweet cupcakes? MUDD........
Update: Only half my childs' class ate these cupcakes, most were thrown away.

These cupcakes were killer - dense chocolate, but not overly sweet! I modified by cutting a hole in the bottom, filling it with white creme I normally use for my whoopie pies, and then replaced piece of cupcake to keep the creme in place. My kid's class went crazy for them...so did the teachers and parent helpers. This is yet another keeper from Ina.

Very Easy! Delish. Made per her video and not the printed recipe. I almost went with my fail-proof one bowl chocolate frosting and am glad I didn't! I typically use large eggs so I had to Google weights and do the conversion. This recipe will now be in the rotation...

Great recipe, and I got great reviews from everyone! Only problem is that I tried making if first as an 8" round cake. Was dry and hard on the outside, and too crunchy on top.
For the cupcakes I added about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips, and skipped the ganache topping, and they were simple and very tasty! Made with homemade chocolate syrup, they tasted absolutely amazing.

Awesome cup cakes! Very rich and moist! I followed the recipe--made sure my eggs and butter were room temperature and most importantly--I didn't over mix the batter (which would have made them dense! Thanks for sharing your outstanding cupcake recipe with us, Ina! I've been using Starbuck's Via in the cake as well as the ganache topping....tastes wonderful!

Huge Dissapointment!!! I've been searching for
the ultimate chocolate cupcake recipe and this
being Ina's I thought would be a contender. However
they were dense, and artificial tasting. No fluffy
cupcake here? Waste of time, and ingredients.
The genache however is delicious! Try on other cupcake recipes!

Disappointed to say this is the only Ina Garten recipe I've tried that doesn't work. No levening in the cupcakes made them dense and dry. A cupcake needs to be light and moist and these were not. The ganache was spectacular, but it couldn't offset the flaws of the cupcake. To make it worse, I took these to a dinner party for many to sample!!! How embarrassing!
