I've made these several times, and I usually use half white chocolate and half milk chocolate (due to the expense of white chocolate. I buy the big bars and cut them up with a big serrated knife. The "chunks" make them a cut above other cookies. I've also made these with chopped Andes Candies in place of the chocolates and they are DELICIOUS too!!! It is my favorite cookie recipe.

These cookies are incredible! They are sooo good! I made them for the first time for Christmas. My whole family LOVES them and could not stop eating them!! I've received so many compliments and recipe requests. That burst of white chocolate flavor when you first bite into the cookie is amazing. One thing that wasn't written in the recipe was that increase in size a lot. So make sure when you make them to put them at least 1/4 in apart so they don't bake into eachother. Also, good white chocolate was very expensive so I just went to the supermarket and bought a white chocolate baking bar and just gave it a rough chop. It worked perfectly. Definitely will be making these again! Thanks Ina!!!

We love these cookies..we tried using 3/4 cup light brown sugar and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar and they were great just the same!

I love these cookies. They are so tasty. I too used white chocolate chips and they came out fantastic! Can't wait to make them again! The white chocolate really stands out against the cocoa.

Won a cookie contest among friends with this great recipe. Followed according to the recipe, but added crushed candy cane pieces just when they came out of the oven for added holiday taste. Everyone loved them. Thanks!

These are so delicious! They are however a bit expensive when you consider the price of white chocolate. I know it's unforgivable, but I will try white chocolate chips next time in the interest of $$. They freeze nicely too. I am making another batch tomorrow for our Christmas party. I love you, Ina!!!

I tweaked the recipe a little by adding chopped pecans (about 2 cups - I LOVE pecans and a bag of chocolate chips instead of the shaved chocolate, and it seemed to work out OK. At first I was unsure about taking the cookies out of the oven after 15 minutes because they did look undercooked, but they cooled down to perfection. THANKS Ina. :
