PERFECTION! This was my first time attempting to "fry" anything and it was a success. I will be making these again and again.

I've always wanted to make onion rings, and I watched Ina make them today and decided that today was the day -- so easy to make, and delicious!! I didn't have buttermilk, so I substituted with light cream and the taste was great. Will definitely make again!

I made these tonight. My grandchildren loved them. My husband liked the original batter that I usually make better. I did not have yellow cornmeal. I used fresh ground cornmeal we get from a local miller. I really liked them and it was so much easier than my normal batter. I will be making them again. 5 * from me!

I just made these today using some huge organic yellow onions. I've never made onion rings before, so I was really thrilled that the 3 batches I made were absolutely DELICIOUS! Also, I didn't have any buttermilk - but I did have some white vinegar and milk on hand as a substitute (1 cup milk + 1 tbsp. white vinegar = buttermilk substitute. Since it takes about 10 minutes for the milk to turn sour, I soaked the onion rings in the milk/vinegar mixture for about 30 minutes or so. They turned out so good, I couldn't make them fast enough for everyone to enjoy! Thanks, Ina!

Hubby and I found this recipe to be just what we were looking for.
Absolutely delicious. For the viewer who thought Ida did not specify
marinating the onion rings, the video shows Ina pouring the buttermilk
over the rings and letting them set. It also mentions the buttermilk in the directions. Try it again, I don't think you will be disappointed.

o.k. my onion rings did not turn out! Dang I am sooo disapointed! I was making them for my husband & told him how fun it was going to be to make & eat. The batter did not stick? On t.v. Ina did not say to marinate the onion rings?
