This soup is so good! It's got a kick to it though. Sometimes I'll use one red and one sweet onion to cut the kick in half. If you can, make it with fresh garden tomatoes, it makes a huge difference! I make a huge batch and freeze it for the rest of the year. Also, I used greek yogurt instead of cream to make it a little healthier and it turns out great.

Easy to make and delicious! I used veggie stock pureed in my blender, like some of the other reviewers. I did not need to strain it. It tasted so good I didn't even add the cream.

This is sooo good! I even made it in the winter with store bought vine tomatoes and basil. I did make Ina's chicken stock ( a huge amount of chicken and veggies...I will make a half batch next time of the chicken stock I used a food mill so the soup had a little chunkiness.

Great recipe! Simple and effective. I did not add the heavy cream in the pot (and boiled it. I whipped it (without adding sugar and add it directly in the plate (something I saw in a restaurant. Adds a bit of glamour to it.

Delicious and so very easy to make. This recipe is my favorite tomato soup recipe, not much else can compare even restaurant soups. I dont have a food mill but did as others suggest and used an immersion blender. Perfect!

i made this recipe and it turned out perfect. i substituted 2% milk for the cream, simply because i didn't have any cream in the fridge but it didn't matter--the taste is still sublime. it was soooo easy to make. when i got done cooking the ingredients, i saw where the recipe calls for a food mill which i don't have (shoulda read the recipe first so i pureed the mixture in my food processor in batches--worked perfect, tomato skins, seeds and all. my husband was nuts over this soup which means i will make it again and again; it's delicious. a great way to use up homegrown tomatoes; will keep some of this soup frozen for this winter. and a large can of peeled tomatoes will work just fine in a pinch, too. thanks once again, ina!!!

This soup is wonderful. I'm diabetic so I made it without the sugar and it was still a great soup. I even used 4 cans of diced tomatoes because I had them and not the fresh tomatoes. I like a chunky soup so didn't puree it.
