I don't know what went wrong with the people who didn't enjoy this, but it's completely delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out beautifully. I took it to a dinner party this evening and got rave reviews and requests for the recipe. Ina, you rock!

The dill really make this salad. I have made it twice since seeing in on TV 1/29.

I love cucumbers and this was a nice change from the usual vinaigrette. I'll do it again. I did make it healthy by using low fat yogurt and sourcream. We loved it!

The taste of this salad is quite good. I was in a tiome crunch and did not drain either the cucumbers or the yogurt. I used plain Greek yogurt. Knowing I can use kefir instead I will try it with that next time for time saving. I liked the oeftovers even more due tiot he added flavor but man were the leftovers watered down,. If making this eat immediately you can get by without draining. This salad remonds my of the German style Gurken Salat my family had made and with a litlte modifiying for personal taste, I will contionue to use this recipe. I really liked the spiciness the opnions provided.... nice contrast to the sweet cucumbers.

When plain yogurt is strained the end product is kefir cheese or lebni. . It can be mixed with or used instead of yogurt for a thicker, less watery salad. Also i've found that this salad needs to be made just before it is eaten so the cucumbers don't give up their liquid. Also crushed garlic and dried mint leaves make this even better.

This was a definite "miss" - way too much dressing and I didn't have problems with the salt, I just thought it didn't have great flavor. I took it to a family BBQ and it was the ONLY dish that didn't get eaten!

I love cucumbers and have a wonderful cucumber-tomato-onion salad that we make often. But I thought this looked nice for something different. Ugh. First off, it's putzy to do all that straining -- it would have been worth it if the taste were amazing, but it's not. 2nd, a standard size colander will not hold all the cukes and onions. Do they think everyone has a restaurant's array of supplies? My main beef with the recipe is the flavor. I cut back on salt based on others' comments and my own common sense. Still, the flavor was just so sour creamy. Overpoweringly so. And thick -- because you drain off all the liquid ahead of time. It's like eating super thick sour cream with bits of crunchy veggies hiding in it. I couldn't eat it.
