This pudding was absolutely delicious! Creamy and just the right amount of sweet. It took a little longer for the cook time than was listed but the extra minutes are well worth it!!

easy, delicious, great use of pantry items
next time I'll try it with dark chocolate for a more decadent twist
the recipe made 6 servings instead of the 2-3 as suggested in Barefoot Contessa Parties

I made the recipe from her cookbook (didn't see the show and it was very simple to follow the directions. I don't understand what some of the other reviewers had trouble with

My first attempt at a "non-box" pudding too. It was wonderful! I did let it go a tad too far, and it was a bit thick and lumpy. Added more cream and wisked. It was still a bit thick, so I made up a pie crust of graham crackers, butter and brown sugar. The brown sugar gave the crust a toffee taste, which was perfect to compliment Ina's pudding for a great choc cream pie. Took some to my 78 yr old parents, and mother said it was the best chocolate pie she had ever eaten. Give this recipe a try!

This was my first attempt at ever making pudding - I usually just buy the jello pudding cups and call it a day. Now that I know how awesome this recipe is I will never go back! I added more sugar after reading other reviews and instead of using vanilla extract I used bourbon. I was serving the pudding to an adult crowd and wanted it to have a little something extra to it. I topped it with a sweetened whipped cream and I swear the best pudding I've ever eaten.

I didnt have any problems with the set up, mixing or anything - all went as it should have according to my reading the recipe and following the instructions. I didnt see her make this on TV so the recipe is written well as is.

I made the pudding as-is, except I didn't add the heavy cream--I don't have any. Easy to make, and fabulous.

I saw the episode this week where Ina made this pudding. It looked so rich and delicious I just had to make it. I always read the comments and reviews before I make these recipes because I watch for the problems that have come up for others. I was prepared for a bit of trouble with it but wow - this recipe was so easy and wonderful I couldn't understand how some had so much trouble with it. One complaint in particular was that it took a long time to thicken and that it took hours to set. I can only suggest that maybe the corn starch amount was to blame. I made the recipe exactly as it was written and it came out exactly as it said. It took about two minutes to thicken as I cooked it, and, as it said in the instructions, if it starts to thicken too much, immediately remove it from the heat and whisk the heck out of it....(that's what happened to me and it was perfect. I did agree with Mr. Rabor that it might use a bit more sugar so next time I will try 2/3 cup. Also, don't walk away from the stove while it cooks - it goes from chocoIate milk to a thick pudding in a moment. I used Ghiradelli sweet ground chocolate and a one ounce semisweet chocolate square. Don't give up on this pudding....try it again if you had problems, it's so worth it. The result is divine. Plop a dollop of sweetened whipped cream and you're in true pudding paradise!

I it probably the best pudding I have ever tasted. The reason I gave it 4 stars, in preping I tasted it and it needed more sugar. I woud say about 5/8 cup would be perfect. Ina thanks again for making me look like I know what I am doing. =0

I've given this recipe a two-star rating because although a VERY delicious pudding, the recipe is fairly unclear in terms of cook-time. If I had not watched the show and seen the preparation of it visually, the recipe printed from the website would not have been enough on its own.

I have just cooked this pudding. Be careful you can be addicted to this one. It is delicious, not very sweet and just the right amount of chocolate. Thank you very much.
