They are delicious! My husband and my cousin's husband both loved them and it's funny cause neither of them like fruit cake!

I was disappointed in these. Sherry flavor was very strong and cookies were not sweet at all. On my platters of cookies for Christmas, these cookies were the last to go. I think they need more color and sweetness, so would add more cherries and sugar if I make them again.

I had a cookie bake off coming up at work and had no idea what to make. I saw this episode and thought I would give it a shot. It was fruit and "healthier". The only thing is I wanted to add that something to take it to that next level so I drizzled them with white chocolate. They were a hit!! Everyone loved them! So much that I tied for first place!! This will definitely be one of my go to cookie recipes...next time I'll try rum instead of the sherry!

These, when sliced thin and baked, are amazingly good...they actually improve with a few days' storage, so I would definitely make them ahead. I sliced them a little over 1/4" thick. I had just a regular fruitcake mixture of fruit, plus nuts and some candied cherries.

While mixing the filling,I thought it tasted bland so I substituted 1/2 c dates for figs and added zest of two oranges. Maybe more sherry would have been good as well. Overall a good cookie. If I make it again I will pump up the taste with a higher percentage of cherries. Walnuts were very tasty in this recipe. I also added a thin glaze of sherry and confectioner's sugar.

Delicious cookies! Just the recipe I've been looking for. Follow the directions closely. Cookies may not look ready or done in the oven, but they are. The cookies become more flavorful with time. The flavor of the dried fruits and nuts become more enhanced. I used pecans, walnuts, and almonds. Also, I used rum instead of sherry. My family enjoyed them as well. They're very good with tea.

Great alternative to the common holiday cookie!

I just made these cookies. They are fabulous and so easy! I made the recipe as written with two minor changes -- used brandy instead of sherry and used dried tart cherries instead of the candied one.

This is my third year to make these for my Christmas Cookie Baskets. They never fail to impress. The only variation I make in the recipe is if I don't have sherry on hand I will use Marsala wine. They are better with the sherry but marsala is a good substitute. I like them cut just as called for, 1/2 inch but they are delicious either way. I will definitely keep these as part of my Christmas cookie tradition.
