I have had many chowders in my life and this is among the best...even better than what I had on Cape Cod. I honestly cannot understand the comments about it being tasteless; it is rich and flavorful and very easy to make.

I just saw the episode where this recipe came from this morning. I went to my local seafood store and the salesperson talked me into a bag of frozen clams which only cost $5. I didn't chop them at all because I like to really taste the clams. There was enough clam juice in the package for 1/2 that the recipe called for so I only had to use 1 1/2 bottles of clam juice. I went to 3 stores and none of them had fresh clam juice, which is surprising because I live in a coastal town. Next time, I'll use 2 bags of clams and won't have to substitute bottled juice. I won't hesitate to serve this at a dinner party as a starter.

We all love this creamy great chowder. For those looking for thickness with less fat, I use fat-free half and half. It works very well!

The taste is fantastic but could be a bit thicker. The amounts of the ingredients varied from the recipe to what was actually diced, more than likely due sizes. Use 3 full cups of clams and do not go by a frozen container "stated" weight. This was a first attempt and I found it to be very labor intensive; however, what dish isn't when it is soooo soothing and tastes great.

I have tasted clam Chowder from coast to coast in some of the best restaurants and found this Chowder to have the best flavor and consistency. I will continue to make this recipe forever. A WINNER!!!!!!!!!!

made this recipe today and it was super delicious. i did not have a quart of clam juice so I used chicken broth instead. I also used a bunch of mixed colored carots but the purple ones bled into the soup and changed it from white to off-white after the milk was added. Other than the color, it was worth every minute and will make again.

My family and myself loved it! My wife does not like seafood so I put chicken instead of clams and chicken broth instead of clams juice - cup for cup on each. Family and friends are begging to do the recipe again!

Very good chowder recipe. I used baby red potatoes and it was the best clam chowder ever!
