Sooo good! A new family favorite! I did add in 1/2 pound of freshly crumbled bacon and replaced one of the cups of milk with half and half. Served with hot french bread...it can't be beat in my book! :D

It's hard for me to get fresh clams where I live, so when I am able to find them, I always make this recipe. We love it, and paired with a homemade tuscan loaf of bread, it's a winner every time. The only change I make is to add more clams. Thanks, Ina!

Delicious! I think it tasted a little like a blend between chicken pot pie soup and clam chowder but still a must eat! Takes a little longer too.

Good gosh these reviews. If you like thick or whatever chowder, then make one. If you cant see past or are stuck on plain vanilla, then stay stuck. This isnt thick (which isnt true NE Chowder to begin with, its an EHampton version. Your personal tastes-- no one cares. Was it what it set out to be as a recipe? Thats how you review.

This was a delicious chowder recipe. I followed the recipe except I made half the roux to stir in so it made it a bit less thick but still very delicious. I probably used a bit more fresh thyme because I love the flavor.

Hi from the UK. Recently saw you preparing East Hampton Clam Chowder on British TV. I have no culinary expertise at all but when I saw this I thought I could probably do this. My wife and I first tasted C C in a restaurante around Pemingewasset Lake, near Gilmanton, NH. So despite not having any expertise I followed Inas recipe to the letter barring one item - Celery. My wife will not eat celery. So in place of celery I used sweetcorn. Otherwise my East Hampton Clam Chowder was identical to yours Ina. And what a lush dish it was too. My wife was very impressed, as was I frankly. Beautiful dish. So all-in-all, a very excellent recipe, a very lovely tasty dish. Well done Ina. You're a goddess, and you made me look pretty good for a learner just for a short time too. I will be using this recipe again. Fab !

This is the 1st 4 star review I've ever given Ina, othe recipes have all been 5 star. I do not like clams, but my husband does. So, when he asked me to give clam chowder a try, I looked at many recipes & they were pretty much similar. I followed this to the letter, using frozen clams, which are the best available in the area. He thought it was Ok, but no WOW. I will probably try it again if he asks for it. His comment was it should be thicker, so I'll try & thicken it next try.

The chowder was easy to make and absolutely delicious. I used more clam juice and two cans of chopped clams rather than the fresh clams that weren't available in my market. I will definitely make again!
