I also loved this cake...I love it at night after dinner watching TV or a movie comfy on my couch....I will make this again....easy, not too sweet, love the flavor and texture, great with coffee or tea, thinking of another fruit besides the recipe....maybe necterines or peaches, maybe pears...I think all of them would do great in this cake, even just apples....Thanks Ina...you are GREAT!

My daughter made this for me for my birthday because she knows I like apples, cranberries, and things that aren't too sweet. I just loved it. The second time she made it she left off the extra sugar on the top and we did not miss it at all. Positively wonderful with a cup of coffee for breakfast too. This is a keeper.

The cranberries were a little too tart, which overpowered any taste of the apple. I would make it again and reduce the amount of cranberries to 8 oz. and would add another Granny Smith. Overall, though, it was very easy to make and was a hit with the family.

Way too tart for our taste. I will try it again as it's so easy but will increase the brown sugar from 1/3 cup to 2/3 cup. Maybe Ina has access to sweeter cranberries.

This was easy and delicious. Every recipe I've tried from Ina has turned out great and this one did not disappoint. The tart tanginess of the cranberries is balanced by the sweet cake batter. Super great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

When I made this my batter went down into the apples and cranberrys. Her stayed on top I don't know what I did wrong. But my husband and I loved it. It was very good I will make it often.

I made this for dinner with my inlaws and it was well-received. I had a hard time finding fresh cranberries in my part of the world (Los Angeles due to the bad weather on the east coast, so I used a 10 oz. bag of frozen cranberries from Whole Foods and it seemed to work just fine. I'd thought it would be more cake-y throughout, but basically it was a layer of fruit and a layer of cake/crust on top. Still, it was delicious with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and made a nice change from chocolate (can NOT believe I just wrote that!.
