I had some leftover strawberries, looked for a recipe to use them up and found this one. I am not a fan of strawberry jam but since Ina has never disappointed me I decided to make the jam anyway. My family went CRAZY FOR IT!! They gobbled it up in no time and begged me to make another batch. Put your faith in Ina and you will never regret it!

Scrumptious! Turned out letter perfect. For those of you who didn't use the Grand Marnier because you didn't want to buy a whole bottle for just this recipe (and I understand completely!this is what I do in these cases. I go to a decent liquor store and buy one of those mini bottles that look like the kind you get on an airplane. It's always the perfect amount, generally costs less than $4, and is so worth it to have the real thing! I hope this suggestion helps. I love Ina's recipes. Generally simple, easy to follow, and turn out great. Happy Cooking!

I made this recipe as directed and it was absolutely wonderful!!! I also made the cheddar biscuits and what a wonderful combination. I have never made preserves before, but I am making a larger batch this weekend for all of the strawberry lovers in my family.

I've never successfully made jam or jelly before and this was a wonderfully easy recipe! I was very happy it didn't contain store pectin. Very easy, came together quickly and taste amazing! I used my imersion blender to blend it some so it wasn't as chunky. Can't wait to share this with family and friends. Thanks Ina!

Fantastic recipe! I love the fact is does not contain store bought pectin! I changed the recipe slightly...I reduced the sugar to 2 cups and substituted 1 tblsp Appletons spiced Rum and 1 tblsp OJ for the Grand Marnier, and added 3/4 of a red gala apple (I didn't have a green on handy. Turned out great, thickened up nicely after about 45 minutes. I did not have a candy thermometer so I just eye balled it as I went! Will definitely make it again! Thank you for a keeper!

Excellent recipe which deserves 5 stars. Not at all runny if you follow the recipe. It took me a full 35 minutes and a nice boil stiring regularly. Strawberry is a low pectin fruit which is why you use the green apple (high in pectin. You could also add some slices of oranges, tangerines lemons or lime peel to assist in the process of making it thicker and then remove. I did not find that necessary, but I did add some orange zest which works well with the Grand Marnier. The blueberries gave it a nice deep color and added to the flavor. Another successful recipe from the Barefoot Contessa. Thanks Ina!!!!!

The jam is tasty, but runny. I followed the directions - used the apple for the natural pectin - and still it was runny. I'm thinking if some additional pectin was added, this would be a winning recipe.

I had to change the amount of strawberry I only had 1 pint 1/3 so I did reduce the sugar a lot, because my strawberries were pretty ripe & they had been in the freezer bag cut & stored w/ little sugar on them. I felt better for it to be a little more tart than too sweet. I cut up almost half a granny apple anyways as in recipe but I only use 1/3 cup of blue berries. I didn't have any orange liquor & I was not going to buy a whole bottle for this one recipe, I substitute juice from a naval orange & put some orange zest in it. I was basically winging it my first time making jam.I cooked in stainless steel pot on gas stove on med heat brought it to boil but I left it close to med some of the jam stuck to bottom of pan but it was not scorched. I don't like my jam chunky so I poured it while it was still hot in my blender & emulsified it

the jam was really good, but it did not sit up the way it was suppose to. i have an electric stove with a glass top. it never reached the instructed temp. i tried to salvage it by adding pectin but it came out a bit gummy. at least i got to taste it...before i ruined it :-( hopefully i will be able to try again.
