What a great dish! I served this for a dinner party and it was a rave. I made it a few hours before the party began. The filet was tender and the sauce so flavorful. This is definately a keeper recipie. Thanks Ina

Although I love Ina's recipes, I found this one not to be a very good choice to prepare the day before serving as noted in her cookbook.
After preparing the recipe with a good piece of filet of beef and following the recipe not to overcook the meat during the preparation, I found that it was impossible to reheat it the next day for the suggested amount of time as noted in the cookbook. In order to get the bourginon hot, it took at least 30 minutes plus (even after taking the pot out of the refrig for an hour plus. Needless to say, the filet was overcooked and not particularly tasty. The rest of the dish was very good and very warm but leaving a lot to say about the filet.
All of the reviews were excellent. I wonder if any of these reviews were for the dish prepared the day prior to serving. I will try this recipe again and serve it the same day.

This is my absolute "go to" meal for a dinner party, and I've made it three times. However, even though I follow the recipt to a "T", I never seem to have enough sauce. The last time, I doubled the ingredients for the sauce and it worked out perfectly. The yummiest dish ever. Thank you Ina!

I have made this meal several times and everyone loves it. I use sirloin instead of tenderloin to save money. Serving over bread is a very nice and unusual touch. Pancetta works in place of bacon too.

I've made this recipe 3 times now for family, friends, supper club. All absolutely loved it. The last time, I made a double batch of the sauce and veggies for dinner one night, then used the rest of it the next night for another dinner. Very easy and less mess than making it twice and that allowed me to enjoy guests. Very good.

This is a hit every time I make it. It's easy, do all the prep work ahead (I do use frozen onions and with a few minutes or cooking time it's on the table. Easy and elegant!

I made this dish for Valentine's dinner this year and it was divine! Next time I'll skip the pearl onions they were kind of a hassle. This dinner was as delicious and successful as Ina makes them appear on her show!

I made this for Valentine's Day for my boyfriend and I, and it was one of the tastiest things I've ever cooked. And pretty simple too, once the prep work is done. It was perfect! And if possible, the leftovers for lunch today were even better! FABULOUS.
