In my family I am usually the person making the main part of the meal and others bring desert. My husband saw this epesode in 2003 and encourged me to try to make the cake. I did and boy was it a hit!!!! On July 4th 2003 we had it for the first time and this year again on the fourth to welcome my nephew home on leave from duty in Iraq. It is expected now, the new family tradition.

This was one of the first cakes I have ever made myself. It was beautiful and everyone love it, also it was super easy to make. I even split the recipe in half, because it was only for four people. Very user friendly and makes a big statement. I will diffently make this cake again.

I made this cake for a Fourth of July party and it was a huge hit! I made the cake the day ahead, and iced it the day of the party. I alternated strawberries and raspberries for the stripes, which worked out well. We had 20 guests at our party, and almost the whole cake was eaten! A big hit!

This was the perfect cake for our 4th of July celebration. The cake was delicious and the frosting was out of this world. It was a big hit and I will definately make it again

For the second July 4th in a row, I made this Flag Cake and it was a tremendous hit. It looks impressive and tastes great! The cake is moist and the icing is killer. Decorating it looks hard but it couldn't be easier.
I also tried this recipe as a four-layer 9-inch round cake, alternating raspberries and blueberries between layers. It was about 10 inches high, very impressive and delicious.
