This tart is as easy as they say. I didn't have the 10x14 pan, so I used a 15" round tart ring. Crust was crunchy, with a softish center, and the apples were cooked just right. Instead of the Calvados & apricot jelly, I used what was available, just apple jelly, and it glazed fine. Impressive to look at, and so good!

I really liked the easy prep time to put together this tart. The wonderful apple aroma in the house really built up the appetite for this apple tart. I baked it for 1 hr as recommended and the only difference in mine was that I used puff pastry. I cooked it in a tart pan, and used sugar, cinnamon, and butter. The only problem I encountered was that the crust cooked faster on the oujter rim than the center part. I had to put it in longer, and sacrifice the quality of the outer crust....I wish that maybe I would have been advised to cover the edges with aluminum..but it really tasted great in the end!

I wanted to prepare this tart, however, I didn't think I could make it as well as Ina. I purchased store bought pie dough and when I opened the package it was old and nasty. I decided to "put on my big girl panties and deal with it." So, I made my own dough exactly like the recipe called for. It was SO EASY, I ran down the hall to my husbands office to brag that I actaully made dough for the first time in my life.
Then the rest just fell into place. I put it in the oven and prayed that I could make a beautiful tart. It was absolutely perfect in 45 minutes and WOW. My husband said it was a shame that he couldn't have any as he thought it was for company. I told him I made it for him and he was a very happy camper. I usually share dishes with my close neighbors, this time he asked me NOT to tell them I made this so he could have the entire tart.
    This recipe is pricelss.

I have a collection of Ina's books, and I often spend the day with her on my days off. I pick out the recipes, get the groceries and happily make her desserts or whatever. This French Apple Tart was so easy, and absolutely delicious! My daughter stood by watching me assemble it, my granddaughters helped too, then shared the delight when finished and still warm. My daughter hinted that I begin getting her Ina's cook books so she can spend the day with Ina. This tart is so elegant in its simplicity. I now have a new dessert to make for family get-togethers. Thank you, Ina!

This recipe was very easy to make. I used puff pastry instead of making the dough- i was short on time. I also used aluminum foil because i didn't have parchment paper. The foil caused the bottom to be over done, but once we put ice cream on top when i served it, you couldn't tell.THe ice cream masked the overdone flavor! All in all it was fab! I appreciate the simplicity of Ina's explanations, and the wonderful dishes she shares with us time and time again.

This was amazing -- easy and so absolutely delicious! I used Asian pears (we have too many to eat this year! and they were surprisingly good (didn't know how they would work in this type of pastry. Thanks Ina - we will enjoy this for many years to come! (Now I really have to get to Paris

I'm sorry Ina...but I really was not too impressed with this one! I'm going to give it another try, maybe change up something here and there I don't know...getting it off the sheet (yes I used parchement paper was not that easy, I'm eating it but not impressed. Pepridge Farm's apple dumplings were better sorry, go ahead everyone....tell me how awful I am, but that's how I feel.
