We made these all summer long to welcome guests into our home for dinner parties. We also make a large batch for a family reunion. Each time we serve them, they are a hit.

Loved this "from scratch" recipe. Will never enjoy the purchased mix again!

I followed the recipe to the letter since I had no idea what a whisky sour tasted like. My husband orders them when we go out, so I thought this would be a treat. Well, it was sour! And it was strong! I gave my husband half of the recipe and he ended up with a hangover the next morning. I guess the ones he gets at local bars are light weights! So, my advice is invite a friend to share the recipe or hold off on the whisky a bit. (How come I didn't have a hangover????

Whiskey sour is my favorite drink. I make them all the time and I have my favorite mix I like to use, but this is so much better than any I've made before. It's absolutely fantastic!

These are so good that they tend to get me in trouble. I did not ever have a whiskey sour until I made these, now I am ruined for anything I would get out of a bottle, or a bar for that matter!

Firstly, I love whiskey sours -- my favorite of all cocktails -- but hate that nasty sour mix stuff one buys at the store. This recipe truly does produce a 'fresh' whisky sour. Lovely and tart, and the Jack Daniels is perfect. However, after my first try at the recipe, I realized that Ms. Garten likes her whiskey sour a wee bit stronger than do I. Thus I have learned to cut back the 'Jack' to about 1/2 cup. That gives me a springboard from which to add more whiskey, as desired.

We made these a year ago after seeing Ina make them and now they've become our favorite cocktail. We've made them for friends who claim they don't like whiskey or they don't like sours, and EVERYONE loves them! In the summer we make a double batch and share a pitcher of Ina's WS with friends out on the deck. All of our friends now love these and ask for them. And I disagree with those who say they are too sour - that is the whole point behind a "sour". If anything, double the whiskey!!!

Great! Great! Great! Even guests who swore they didn't like whiskey enjoyed this drink as well!

The fresh juice makes all the difference. The first time I made them, I followed the recipe exactly. They were good but not quite right for me. The next time I substituted oranges for the lemons. Since oranges are sweeter than lemons, I reduced the amount of sugar syrup a bit and increased the amount of whiskey. They were fabulous! One of the best drinks ever! And they have to be ice cold. Yummy! I think you can safely play around with the juice mix for your taste or just for variety.
