I made these exactly according to the recipes. I didn't have any juice left over after the fruit and nuts macerated overnight.
I also thought that it has just a bit too much cloves. I will experiment with the amount of cloves next time. Over all I would say they are fabulous!!! Will make them again for my next kids play date. Great job Ina!

I doubled this recipe and made as printed. I made the rolls 2" in diameter and got 7 1/2 doz. I would not have wanted the cookies any smaller.

Also, for those posters who wanted ingredients in cups, etc., it is so helpful to have a digital scale (they are available almost everywhere these days because esp. with pro recipes the ingredients are listed by weight, not volume.

I knew when I printed off this recipe, that I could count on Ina Garten for a good cookie. WOW! This is a new Christmas cookie tray favorite. Due to lack of availability of candied cherries and apricots in my stores, I used dates instead. Very good substitute. Thanks Ina!

I first saw Ina made these on her show. They looked so delicious that I decided to give them a try, even though I am not a dried fruit-in-dessert type of person. I wasn't disappointed! They were buttery, nutty and the mix of dried fruits added to the complexity of flavour. I couldn't find candied cherries so I used candied pineapples by the suggestion of another reviewer. I will be making these all year round!

Has anyone converted the fruit ingredients from pounds and ounces to cups, etc.? I haven't made these cookies but they appear to be a 5-star.
    Thanks!

I knew when I saw Ina making these on TV that they would be a hit. The ingredients sounded so yummy. I made these for my son's birthday party, and what a hit. I didn't make any changes to the recipe. The combination of the fruits were exactly correct. I made this recipe 3 days before the party, and kept refrigerated. A great make-ahead cookie. Thanks Ina!

These are truly tasty, and festive AND easy, plus they last a LONG TIME! I know they don't need to be made just at Christmas, but they are so perfect then, and they are a great foil for the sugar cookies and the other fancy cookies you usually make, plus I like the way they look. They are not too sweet. I made them with dried cherries instead of the candied ones, and they were really good. Give them a try.
