I made them today too (cookinMa. They are SPECTACULAR! Now, you have to like gingerbread ... and if you do, these are over-the-moon better than normal gingerbread. Don't expect a "fluffy" birthday party cupcake. These are denser than a "typical cupcake" ... but that is what makes them divine! They are not dry (25 minutes is perfect. They are sophisticated and spicy and festive and you will gain a pound or two just smelling them bake. What a special alternative to normal autumnal desserts! Pumpkin pie ... step aside! Again, Ina ... bravo!

These were wonderful! I put a little more orange zest in the batter and the icing, and they were perfect. I took them out right at 25 minutes, so maybe other people found them dense because they were overdone. I also made sure to blend the batter until it was fluffy, which probably helped to keep them lighter. Just divine.

I liked these but didn't love them. The cupcakes were rather dense, but the frosting was delicious. I'm glad I made them once but I probably won't make them again.

The overall taste was delicious. I found the cupcake to be very heavy and not very moist. A bit of a disappointment. The yummy frosting add alot.

I am making this for my kids tonight. FYI Radihika- 1 stick of butter is 1/4 lb. It is also 1/2 cup.

Wanted to try put this recipe. But, have a doubt on how much butter needs to be used. Is it 1/4 lbs or 1 stick? I always thought 1 stick is 1/2 lbs. Please clarify.
