This recipe is awesome! I live on LBI at the 'Jersey Shore and this is a perfect recipe. Don't just think in terms of an appetizer. Make double and have a yummy summer meal. Hint: to make cooking clams easier, use a foil grill pan. You will lose less clam juices. Also, be sure to make your own breadcrumbs. Store bought bread crumbs ruin the recipe. I've made this many times to rave reviews. Viking Chick

This is an A+ recipe. I made this last night for the Giants-Cowboys tailgate and they were a hit. Unfortunately we only had 20 clams, but next time I'll be sure to buy some more. One thing of note - for 20 clams, this bread crumb mixture was about 3x as much as we needed. We were eating the mixture with a spoon when the clams were gone. I went a little lighter and didn't use the butter, and they were amazing.

This was an amazing recipe. So easy to make and the flavors are addictive. We have made this several times and even those who proclaim they aren't clam eaters loved it! We find oursevles using spoons to scoop up any of the mixture that didn't find its way onto a clam. So good!!

Yuuummm!!! Absolutely fabulous. Everyone raved about it and the clams were gone within minutes. Do not drain the juice that develops as the clams are cooking, it makes the breading even more scrumptious.

Fabulous! And a real show stopper at a get together. People fight for the extra "crumb" leftover in the bowl afterward! Sooooo easy too. Thanks Ina!

I was super excited to try this recipe when I saw Ina make it on tv, however after paying $8.99/lb for clams I can say I'm disappointed in the value. If I could get clams cheaper this might be something I'd consider doing again, however for the value the flavor didn't meet the price for me. I'll keep trying Ina recipes though - she's always doing straight up things that turn out well!

I steam clams stovetop in garlic, oil, butter, thyme, and parsley. Basil Breadcrumbs are awesome. Tossing them with the clams really puts the recipe over the top.
