This Mac and cheese is delicious. The flavor of the Gruyere, sharp cheddar and, blue cheese compliments each other. I followed the directions exactly, so easy and came out perfect. Ina's recipes are great.

Great dish!!! However I did modify it just a bit by adding 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder and 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder.

I made this without the bacon or the white bread. It was fantastic! No need for added salt due to the saltiness of the cheeses but as usual, Ina's recipes are off the hook.

I left off the bacon and crumbs. My 15 year old grandson, mac and cheese maven, said this was the best thing he had ever had in his mouth. My work here on earth is done! Watch the salt as the cheese is very salty. I also used quinoa gluten free mac for the intolerant in our house. No one really noticed.

Tons of flavor. Worth every minute and penny spent making it.

Phenomenal! I will never make any other mac and cheese recipe, now that I have this one. I wasn't too sure about the nutmeg, so I omitted that. I also used campanelle pasta, which dresses up the dish. Love this!

This is a great basic recipe that has made its way into my weekly routine! What I really love is switching up what cheeses and spices we put in- now I make a cajun-spiced mac and cheese using the techniques in Ina's recipe. I highly recommend giving this one a shot. (My favorite cheese combo has been sharp cheddar, smoked gouda, and Irish swiss.

What an Amazing dish! Substituted bacon for Pancetta or prosciutto (whatever was handy. Instead of bread crumbs, I crushed croutons (Garlic & Butter and used in its place.
I'm a lover of basil, so I included fresh Basil in the macaroni instead of combining with the topping. This added an extra richness to the dish that my family and friends loved. Served with a salad and white wine made this dish a serious hit! For pot lucks I'm always asked to make the Mac & Cheese.
Kudos! Ina!!!! I love your recipes and there versatility!

Wow! I am a very low-fat, low carb cook, but have to splurge every once in awhile. This was the ultimate comfort dish. I used my leftover Honey-baked ham that I pan seared first and added a good quantity to the dish instead the bacon. Put some tomato slices on the top from one of Ina's other recipes and Voila! It's creamy, rich and the ham added the crisp and little saltiness. Will be sharing this recipe with friends!
