I am the biggest fan of Ina I have her books and watch all her cooking shows. This mac-cheese was a BIG disaster with my family nobody liked the taste of those expensive cheeses was awful! We ended up eating sandwiches and those were GREAT!!!

When I first told my husband I was making mac & cheese for dinner he wasn't too happy. After he ate it though he was amazed! He said it is the best Mac & Cheese he has ever tasted. When I asked him what he expected he said he thought it was the one the boys eat... kraft from a box. However, I didn't have bacon at home that night so I used some jumbo lump crabmeat I had in the fridge instead and added a little old bay seasoning. It was to dye for. I make this now at least twice a month. THANKS INA. I LOVE YOUR RECIPES!!!

This was amazing I loved it. Another Ina Garten twist to a UK favourite. Thank you Ina.

My husband and I made this and it was sooo good... the leftovers were delicious too. :

The flavor combinations were complex and the cheese is rich and yummy. I can't believe the negative comments here!

Came back to get the recipe so we can make it again tonight!

I saw Ina make this, and I immediately thought it was going to be amazing, what with the gruyere, roquefort and cheddar. The woman helping me find the chesses at Whole was even raving about them. I made it perfectly (I am a chef, and when I tasted it, it really wasn't that amazing. Yes, it was very good, but not amazing. The distinct personalities of each of the cheeses did not shine or complement each other well. I would reccomend Tyler's Ultimate Mac and Cheese for anyone wanting to have the best macncheese they've ever tasted.

THis recipe sounds amazing, but if I don't own a big food processor, how do I make the breadcrumb topping? Can I just chop up the bread by hand and add the basil to it?
    Thanks!

All of the flavors blended very well together. It was also very easy to make. I will definitely make this again.

I first made this recipe for a friend's barbeque and it got GREAT reviews. Everyone took second or third helpings. I fry up pancetta instead of bacon and gorgonzola instead of the blue cheese and it is always delicious. If you are making this beforehand and letting it sit for awhile, I would use a bit more milk b/c the noodles tend to absord the liquid overtime. Worth the time, effort and dirty dishes!!

1st I agree with other viewers - dirties up a lot of pots and pans. That wouldn't be a problem if it was really good - but it wasn't. This was really bland and not creamy - it was dry. I thought it would be good because of the gruyere and blue cheese combo. This was very disappointing - threw the recipe away.
