We threw it out. Was just to nasty to drink.

I am watching my weight, so I could not use all the carbs from 4 cups of apple juice. So, I did 4 cups water, with 1 cup apple juice, 5 Splenda packets, and I added 3 drops of peppermint extract.

When served over ice, the drink has a nice, light flavor. No, I am not "raving" over it, but I find I get tired of drinking just water. I want flavor which this has. Might I prefer it with all 4 cups of apple juice? I'm sure, but I like what I'm drinking.

When it gets hot (and in Los Angeles, we've had some 90 degree days in January 2011 already, it will be just perfect.

I agree with Deborah in Washington, D.C. After watching this episode and seeing Ina's smile after sipping the iced tea, I thought it would be really good and the reviewers that said otherwise were probably just being picky. Unfortunately, they were right. It really does taste like medicine. Like cough syrup. Maybe it would be a better recipe with a different type of tea - not red or lemon zinger. I had to pour it down the drain too. My husband and I tasted it together and both thought it was really gross. Sorry Ina...I love you anyway. All the other recipes I've tried of yours are delicious.

I own all of Ina's books, watch her show - she is my absolute favorite - but this recipe was so bad we had to throw it away. Not one member of the family liked it. It tastes like cough medicine. I actually poured it down the drain. I was very disappointed. This is the very first of Ina's recipes that I haven't enjoyed. We tried adding some sugar and then some splenda, all to no avail. It was unsalvageable.

We saw Ina make this on her show, and my 8-year-old wanted to make it for our dinner guests that night. We used Celestial Seasonings Country Peach bags and Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger bags. She loved it, and so did our dinner guests. :- It's nice that it's not terribly sweet.

I have wanted to make this for a long time and am so glad I have. In fact I am actually drinking a glass right now.

This tea is a cross between a crisp sweet juicy red apple and an exotic lemonade. It's not to tart or sweet and a pretty rosy glow. No one flavor overpowers another. First you get the apple, then the exotic taste of the red zinger, which actually enhances the flavor of the fruit and then the clean finish of the lightly tart lemon. This would be great anytime of the year iced, warmed with a cinnamon stick or served sparkling for the non-drinkers at your next celebration. I will definitely make this again.

I used the celestial brand's Red Zinger and Lemon Zinger. I used Martinelli's 100% pure apple juice (in a glass bottle in the juice isle, not fresh and it is delicious.

I had high expectations for this drink, but I have to say that I did not enjoy it... Too blah. Nothing special.
I enjoy watching Ina's shows, though.

I (as many others have altered this recipe a bit. I wanted to avoid the whole "medicine smell/taste," so I used 5 raspberry zinger bags to 3 lemon. When I cut the recipe in half, I used 3 raspberry to 1 lemon mixed with 2 cups of apple juice. The apple juice is definitely key here. The best apple juice I've found is "Simply Apple." I absolutely love this drink. It's refreshing and does resemble fruit punch in taste. I always drink mine with a wedge of lemon and lots of ice. As far as whether or not it qualifies as a recipe goes....It's a mixture that we didn't know of before, and frankly I personally wouldn't have thought to make it this way, so I think it's definitely a recipe. Also, instead of criticizing Ina on her ability to create recipes, I think that the person whom commented below needs to try the recipe and write a review based on the recipe results....NOT on what they didn't like about the show. We are here to rate the recipes and food only....not to be television critics.

I'm surprised that so many reviewers didn't care for this recipe. I have made this numerous times, and it has always been delicious. The red tea bags are Rasberry Zinger tea bags- usually next to the Lemon Zinger- all Celestial Seasonings brand. I, for one, enjoy seeing Ina shop for her ingredients. I not only watch the show for her ideas on recipes, I also enjoy the full atmosphere of her surroundings and activities.
