this is terrific with roast pork, duck or chicken.
also, i serve it warm over good vanilla ice cream....or warm
over a slice of sour cream pound cake with a drizzle of vanilla custard on top. it could be nice on pancakes or french toast in place of syrup. you might try a little blop of it in your morning oatmeal.

WOW! My family LOVES this recipe... the best so far! Although, we think there should be more cinnamon and less citrus. Maybe cut down to one navel orange. YOU must try this apple sauce!

This applesauce is amazing. It's the best I've ever had. I've made it several times and it's the perfect complement to Ina's Fennel Roast Pork. I usually cut down on the citrus just a little to suit my own taste, but overall, this is a fabulous dish.

I made this yesterday and just had to put in my 2 cents. To me this tasted like an apple pie without the crust, not applesauce. I put in the skins from the two red apples and tried to follow the recipe to take them out when done but I couldn't find them. They cooked down to small pieces and so I couldn't really find them until we ate the mush and found the skin that way. Was very disappointed. Like I said it was a mushy apple pie filling without the crust. I don't want to throw it away so I am going to try and freeze it and then maybe heat it up and put it over pound or angel food cake with some whipped cream. This is not applesauce.

I think pennsykitty_12310986 should learn to click on the link called "Print." It would be much easier than copy-n-paste the text...and all the hyperlinks. Duh! Try Google and search on "how to use the Internet!"

This is amazing! I left out the orange zest and juice only because I didn't want any orange this time around. I kept the lemon zest and juice and it came out perfect! I don't think I can go back to pre-made applesauce!

This applesauce is anything BUT bland and boring! My family said it tasted like mulled cider! This really wakes up the taste buds!

This is delicious! Will make again. I also like to make my applesauce from Macintosh apples with skins on, cinnamon and little sugar in a small amount of water in a saucepan. Macs are crisp and very juicy and don't need much water. When tender, pulverize. Makes a pretty pink applesauce. I grew up on this in NH.

I love how simple this applesauce recipe is. It was delicious, but for my taste I will use a bit less allspice and a bit more sugar. You could vary this recipe in many ways, but you still have an easy, delicious way to make homemade applesauce. The leftovers freeze well, too.
