Made these yesterday, they're excellent!! My teenager loves them too! Followed some advise from others posted here - used 1/2 wheat germ and 1/2 flax seed, added chocolate chips (put them in freezer first and added to cooled mixture so didn't melt, changed fruit to dried tart cherries, raisins and dried cranberries. I think any dried fruit would work well in this recipe. Will definitely make these again!

I loved these bars!! Made them a couple weeks back and I loved them. I changed up the recipe to my liking and I remember I added a banana that I mashed up because I didnt have the wheat germ and I also don't like coconut. I loved and I ate all the bars myself! Haha. Will make this again and continue to change up the recipe by putting in other ingredients

This is by far THE BEST granola bar recipe!! Doubled the recipe and made 2 - 9x13 pans. Added pumpkin seeds and flax seeds instead of nuts and wheat germ and replaced apricots with raisins. I buttered the back of a spoon to press down and smooth the mixture in to the pans which worked really well. They cooled for 2 hours in the pans and cut like a charm! SO GOOOOOD!!!

So good! And they kept for a few weeks. I substituted some of the toppings with white chocolate chips and craisons. I also bought whole almonds (cheaper and used my food processer to chop them.

This recipe should be fool-proof and is truly excellent. Reviewers who thought these bars were too sweet may have mis-measured an ingredient. I used half sweetened and half unsweetened coconut, and subbed peanuts for the almonds, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. These granola bars are the perfect combination of crunchy and chewy. I can't imagine how anybody could have a problem getting them to stick together, unless perhaps they didn't bake them long enough. I used a convection oven at 300 for 25 minutes. They are golden brown and remarkably crisp. Best granola bars I have made. And I have made three other kinds.

FABULOUS!! Made these today and served them as a snack for a kids playdate and everyone loved them and the moms did too! These are great for school snacks too. I will be making these often. Thanks for another hit Ina!

Delicious. I used candied pineapple instead of other fruit and they were very yummy. The only problem was that they fell apart. More like granola than granola bars. Any advice?
