I try this recipe after the show was over with little changes I did not have the wheat germ so I use wheat bran and ground flax seed also I only had unseewted coconut flakes so I use those (I'm glad because they were very sweet to me,perfect for everybody else,I thlink on the show she never put the oven back to 300 so I kept it @ 350 and cook them for about 18 minutes they were realy crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle,I put wax paper over and press firmly with a rollin pin left them over night and cut them in then morning just delish.

This is a great basic guideline for a zillion combinations for granola bars! I made them with dried cherries, cranberries, apricots and I halved whole toasted
almonds. Maybe next time I will add a pinch of cinnamon. I also would like to
try flax seed, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, I could go on forever.

I had no problem with my bars falling apart, but I did refrigerate them, and I
used a disposable aluminum 8 X 10 pan. If you don't have one, maybe try a
    9 X 9?

I find the older I get, the more I just can't bring myself to eat processed food.
I never cared for store bought granola bars, but I love these, expecially because I know exactly what's in them! Rock on Ina!

I made this recipe and it was wonderful. I do not eat breakfast very often but I definitely would have this every morning. I have passed this recipe off to a few of my friends and they love it.

The next time I make this I will put walnuts and just adjust with other ingredients.
    Excellent Granola Bars.......

Loved this! Made it with coconut oil, instead of butter, added goji berries, pumpkin seeds, and cacao nibs. They came out nice & crunchy! What an wonderful taste! My husband will be impressed! I will be making another batch later today! (make sure the wet ingredients come to a complete boil to help with the setting of the bar!

for some reason i could not get my bars to stay together either. it does make a tasty granola. i will try adding milk to them tomorrow for breakfast. they are really healthy (except for the butter and small amount of sugar so that is nice. i did add flax seed to mine to make them even healthier but i doubt that caused the crumbling problem. oh well. i will keep this as a granola cereal recipe rather than bar recipe seeing as how other people had the same problem and could not alleviate it with varying cooking times, cooling times, etc.

These granola bars are amazing! I have a problem with breakfast granola type items because I am allergic to tree nuts. When I saw Ina make these on her show they looked so delicious that I decided to make them subsituting soy nuts for almonds. The soy nuts worked so well and the granola bars are the best tasting granola I've ever tasted. I will be making these from now on although the hardest thing to do is save them for breakfast and not snack on them!!!! Thank you Ina, once again you have created a masterpiece.

I'll premise the review by saying I was in the middle of making an early dinner while watching the Food channel so I was a bit pre-occupied. But I figured why not try. So, I lacked the wheat germ. I replaced the dried fruit she used with some raisins and replaced the almonds with pecans. I also missed the part of what to do after everything was mixed so I wound up putting it in the oven for 20mi @ 350 degrees and after cooling completely it rendered a crunchy style granola which worked perfectly for me since I add it to my yogurt. Loved it

Ina is a genius. The granola bar was so yummy, and so good for you and filling. I added pistachios, and dried apples, and some banana chips to all of her ingredients, it was so easy, and so delicious, Yummy!! Thank you again Ina!

Nutritious and delicious! The recipe lends itself very well to several permutations and combinations. Don't think I will be shopping for granola bars at the supermarket any time soon.
