This would be amazing over ice cream or yogurt. Mine were not really bars but more like crumbled granola. I like that they are chewy!

Giving 5 stars because I love these. But I can't get them to stay together. I've pressed firmly, baked longer, but they still fall are not firm enough to stay together tightly. I've made 3 times now following recipe exactly first time, next time I pressed in pan firmly, 3rd time let them sit overnight, have increased baking times. All to no avail. Maybe someone has an answer. But I will never buy store-bought bars - these are that good tasting!

Tastes great but my bars did not hold together. The next time, I will try adding a beaten egg white.

The first time I made these bars I was blown away by the flavor but a little disappointed that my bars fell apart. The next time I made them I divided the mixture into a 12-cup muffin tin lined with cupcake papers. The paper sticks a bit so next time I will spray the papers with a little oil spray. I used the bottom of a pint glass wet with some water to firmly press the mixture to make a solid "bar." I also added a little almond extract as well. WOW!

These are very good!!! I changed the recipe a bit and added pecans and only added the cranberries from the 3 dried fruits. I was afraid that the honey mixture would be difficult to clean up when I heat it on the stove but it wasn't! I will say that I didn't know where to find wheat germ at the store (I had never bought it before...but we found it in the oatmeal section! Great recipe! A keeper!

Good granola bar recipe, but still fell apart on me even though I packed it into the pan as firmly as I could. Some recommendations I've heard on other sites are to process the oats prior to toasting. Also, due to wheat allergies, I replaced the wheat germ with flax seed. That much flax seed might have made them more crumbly. I loved the apricots in this recipe. Biting down and getting that tangy taste was great. They were pretty sweet, so I'll try reducing the sugar/honey next time. Couldn't really pick-out the individual flavors of the coconut and dates. More almonds would be nice, they seemed a little skimpy.

As previous comments, don't be afraid to add your favorite yummies. Sunflower seeds, dried pineapple, flavored craisins, cashews too! The more the better.

Here's a tip to make the spreading easier. Pour the mixture on a piece of parchment paper in your jello roll pan. Then cover the pan with another sheet of parchment paper and use your rolling pin to spread evenly and press down firmly. Makes the bars nice and firmer.

I am not even a granola lover, but made these to use up ingredients in my cupboard. OMG--great tasting and easy. I substituted dried cherries and raisins for dates and apricots, and used ground flaxseed for wheat germ--anything goes with this recipe. Like the previous reviewer, these are chewy bars, not crispy which I prefer; but I solved that problem by storing in fridge, and by doing so, they come out with a crispy, crunchy bite.

I was on my way to the grocery store, just as the show was finishing up, so i quickly printed it out. This recipe was sooooooo easy and turned out sooooooo well. This is a winner and a keeper! Thank you!
My plan was to share this snack at quilt guild tonight, but gosh....once the word gets out, it won't take long for them to disappear! :

These were delicious. They did fall apart on me when I cut them. Next time, I'll try pressing them into the pan firmer. The suggestion about using parchment paper to press them in was helpful. I'm also going to use some of the suggestions from viewers and change up the recipe some, adding other ingredients. Thanks for a great recipe.
