Wow! These granola bars are great. They're fun and easy to make, and they taste way better than anything you could buy in the store. Watch out if you're not a big fan of honey, though.
I agree with substituting the dried fruits for ones you like-- next time I'll take out the dates. If I feel like making this even more unhealthy, I'll try chocolate chips next time too :

These are so delicious- and easy to make too! I am already on my second batch. Thanks for another winner, Ina!

I followed all of Ina's instructions, with the exception of substitutiong the dried fruit available in the organic foods market in my area at the time I went to shop for them. I did locate cranberries and they add such a pretty color and flavor to the bars that I can't imagine making the bars without them. Otherwise, I'd like to mix up the fruits added when I make them again for a little variety. I gave them away as gifts to friends (about 5 bars wrapped in parchment paper and placed in quart-sized Ziploc bags and then placed them in gift bags along with boxes of a nice breakfast tea to 3 different friends. Everyone ate the bars in one to two days and is already asking for more. They said they didn't even know I could cook! Thanks Ina! What a wonderful gift idea these are!

I used a 9x13 pan because I didn't have a 12x8 and it worked fine. The only other modification I made was to use 3/4 cup each of apricots and cranberries in place of the dates because I don't like them. I didn't have the problems some others had with the bars falling apart, but I did press the granola pretty firmly into the pan before putting it in the oven. Very easy and delicious.

This recipe was great. Chewy yet crunchy. I think I added a little more fruit than called for. Also I added some cinnamon. I loved these bars. Healthy and full of rich flavors.

I saw this recipe somewhere in the bookstore before but I didn't have a chance to make it. The show aired last week and I'm so excited to try. I got no problem but the granola bars didn't firm enough as Ina did in the show. It tastes very delicious, better than store bought, especially it's low fat. It's healthy snack. I love this recipe. Next time, I will try to put pumpkin seed or sunflower seed to see how it turn out.

The granola tasted good but I was expecting it to be crispy. Mine were chewy and not easy to slice, they fell apart around the edges.

I made the homemade granola bars today and they were easy to do and are delicious. I did find like several other people that they did have a tendency to fall apart around the edges when cutting them . I think though the recipe stated to press lightly I would next time press a little firmer on the mixture and maybe they will hold their shape. As for Linda in AZ I would say that she misread a measurement because this mixture is far from wet before placing it in the pan. I doubled checked and the recipe in Ina's book, the website and the show all have the exact same ingredients and measurements. Try them again honey !

Ina ...hugs and kisses for all of your hard work and talent, you're the bomb !

I was so excited about these granola bars, I ran to the store to get all the ingredients and made last night. I thought they'd be a healthy portable snack for my husband who travels for work. They were BY FAR the biggest dissapointment of anything I have EVER made. Not only did they fall apart, they remained too wet, despite being cooled overnight. They even soaked the parchment paper, which in turn stuck to the granola and I could not get it off. It was a complete mess! I followed this recipe to the letter. I'm wondering if there was a discrepancy btwn the show and the posted recipe. This is becoming a VERY ANNOYING problem on Foodnetwork's website!!!
