The best gravy ever!! This is my second review of this and I have made it for the past two years at Thanksgiving. I follow the recipe exactly every time. Since I first found this recipe though I have used Chicken broth if we are having chicken and beef drippings/beef broth if we were having Beef Roast and it comes out delicious every time!

This was so delicious and easy to make! It was definitely all gone at the end of dinner. I added the optional white wine and heavy cream.

Thank you Ina. The best gravy I've had, everybody loved it, and it was all gone! Your flavors, and quantities are always spot on!

This is the best gravy I've ever had! So easy to make, & there was none left after dinner. Thanks, so much Ina, another winner!

OMG! This was to die for! We had it with Loin of Pork with Fennel and Garlic and Rosemary Roasted Potatoes. Fabulous!

This was one of 3 highly rated recipes of Ina's that I tried for Thanksgiving. I found this gravy a little too rich for a meal that is already heavy.

I have never submitted a review but this was worthy of taking the time to say, I made it Thanksgiving and it was delicious. I was somewhat hesitant to add the full amount of Cognac, it just seemed too much but my daughter said, "Have faith in Ina!" So I followed the recipe to the letter and it was truly wonderful. I've never run out of gravy before! This is a definite keeper.

I have made this recipe so many times I could probably do it in my sleep blind folded. It is absolutely the best! Browning those onions ( I use mushrooms too sometimes in the butter is key. The longer the better. With steak or prime rib use beef broth! With poultry, chicken broth! For a big holiday, I make the night before usually. Then an hour before the turkey or prime rib is ready I reheat then add some good drippings from the roasting pan! So great and no one is ever saying, "You ran out of gravy???,"

Fantastic recipe! I have tried many gravy recipes and was never successful. Found this one and I was a success. I did slow cook the onions for about 45 minutes and then turned them off until ready to finish thr gravy. This will be my go to recipe for gravy.

One more thing: I did use the white wine, but not the cream. It DEFINITELY does not need it for taste or the addition of the extra fat. I also did not add any salt since as the below poster mentioned, the broth already has it. Mine was not too salty. Great!
