Wonderfully flavorful gravy, I followed the recipe exactly and this is by far the best gravy I have ever tasted or made. Thanks Ina.

Making this gravy for Christmas Dinner, by request from my whole family. It's the 4th holiday dinner I've made it, and my family "threatens" to eat it straight because it's so good. I've never used the heavy cream or brandy/cognac (never have that stuff on hand, but I've added extra white wine (always have that in the house. Spectacular! Ina is the best!!!!

The best homemade gravy ever! So easy and so delicious! Used half&half instead of heavy cream to cut down on fat. Still delicious! As usual, a winner! Thanks Ina!

I love this recipe! The gravy was a hit on Thanksgiving! I have been looking for a gravy recipe for a long time and haven't found one that I like until now. 99% of the recipes I get from Food Network are from Ida. I love the way she cooks. I wish I was her neighbor!

This gravy was spectacular. It was smooth and creamy, with just the right thickness, and was pretty easy to make. We made it Thanksgiving day with the fresh stock and drippings from the turkey, and substituted half the butter with melted turkey fat. We also used a good quality cognac, and to smooth the gravy incorporated the onions with an emersion blender instead of straining. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the cognac added such a distinctive -albeit yummy- flavor that the gravy ended up competing with the turkey instead of complementing it. Regardless, this is perhaps the best gravy I've ever had and I will definately be making it again, although maybe without the cognac.

Terrific! I made it for Thanksgiving with Ina's roast turkey. This was the first time I made my own gravy and the taste was great. I did not have the cognac so I had to skip that but did add the heavy cream and wine. My kids do not like chucks of onion in the gravy so I strained it before serving. My only advice would be to taste before salting and give enough time to brown the onions. It took a little longer then I expected. Thanks Ina!!
