I never made hummus before and this was my first time. We had a luncheon at work and I decided to make hummus to bring in (as our theme was healthy eating. I was a little worried as to how it would turn out. IT WAS A HIT! Everyone loved it and asked me for the recipe. The only thing I did different was cut the amount of salt in half and add scallions. It was truly delicious. Those people who were not garlic lovers stayed away but mostly everyone loved it. I will definately make this again and again. Next time I'll add roasted red peppers. You can also cut the garlic in half for those people who do not truly love garlic as my friends and I do.

I thought that 4 cloves would be too much, but I am a huge fan of garlic so it was perfect for me. I added more lemon juice and some EVOO because it wasn't sticking together. I also used plain sesame seeds instead of the actual paste, which could be why it was a bit dry at first. I loved it and this will be my signature hummus!

I have made Ina's recipe for hummus before and like others, I cut back on the salt. I also added about a 1/4 C. of fire roasted red peppers which made a wonderful addition. But I also found another recipe that suggested that if you don't have any tahini around you could substitute an eqivalent amount of peanut butter for a similar outcome. I love peanut butter so I may just try it in conjunction with half the tahini.

1st its a great recipe..2nd put 2 cloves of garlic and a dash of salt..definitely NOT 1 1/2 tsp.. NOWAY!!
2 cups is perfect...2 cans WAY too much. tahini is perfect.
and the hot sauce can get cut in my opinion.
ive tried other recipes and i keep on coming back to this one...

I made this recipe as written and it was way too salty. I added an additional can of chick peas and then it was perfect. My thinking is that the recipe is supposed to call for 2 cans of chick peas instead of 2 cups.

I loves this version. Only change is I use salt to taste and add a blend from Pensey's called "sunny Spain" - again to taste.
I take Romaine lettuce leaves and put the hummus in them "taco style". YUMMY and satisfying!

I put in 2 good sized garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon of salt instead of what was in the recipe and it tasted so good!

I loved this recipe but thought it had too much garlic. I tried it a second time with only two cloves and it was delicious!!

Also try with 1/2 tsp. cumin for different taste option. Good served drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with paprika and pine nuts for garnish.

I love Hummus - I first had it in Israel. And this was very much like what I had there. I haven't been able to find Hummus as yummy as it is in the Near East. I will make this again.
