This is the easiest and best hummus recipe I can find. The dashes of hot sauce take it from good to AMAZING. I would say just before serving it you can do a quick drizzle of really good olive oil on it and a squeeze of lemon juice.

This has become my go-to recipe for hummus HOWEVER like other reviewers have said, 4 cloves of garlic is WAY too much! Even cutting it to 2, you can still taste a lot of garlic. What's great about hummus though is that you can add whatever you want to it (i.e. roated red peppers, fresh herbs, chili peppers, etc.. Also, I recommend starting light with the liquid ingredients and then just keep adding more to get the consistency that you like. I know some people like it thicker than others. If you have a food processor this recipe is fool-proof.

I made this hummus for my sister and her friends, all who are vegetarians. They loved it. I even had made a double recipe and they were scraping the bowl clean. Thanks so much Ina!

I made this hummus for a party, and it was a hit! I love a thick, hearty hummus and this goes perfectly with veggies, pita chips, on sandwiches, etc. I love the kick the loads of garlic and the tabsaco sauce gives it, but if you want a more toned-down version you should probably cut out the tabasco and use only 2 or 3 cloves of garlic, but I love this recipe as is!

After reading the reviews on here, I am glad that I made my own modifications to this recipe. I used two garlic cloves which was more than enough for some garlic flavor and I didn't even add any salt. The star ratings are too favorable for the recipe as it is. Add more reserved liquid from the chick peas, and slightly less tahini. Hummus is easy enough to make after you have a little inspiration.

I LOVE this hummus recipe. I have made it several times according to Ina's directions. I made it today with Real Lemon juice (the kind in the little plastic lemon and Spice World garlic ... needless to say, it wasn't the same with these substitutions. But for those who think the garlic and lemon are overpowering, this kind of toned it down.

This is a fantastic hummus recipe. I made a few small modifications based on my personal taste. This recipe is very easy to modify as you wish. I cut the garlic down to 3 cloves, added an extra half cup of chickpeas, an extra 2 Tbsp of chickpea liquid, reduced the salt a little and it was amazing! I literally just ate half the recipe in one sitting it was that addictive!

!'m not a huge fan of the different 'flavored' kinds of hummus. This recipe has a great classic flavor. I also love the thick consistency. I've made this my hummus 'go-to' recipe.

This has become my go-to recipe for hummus. I add roasted red pepper if I want some variety. One batch is gone in just a day or two! Add less garlic if you are not a garlic lover, but it is near perfection!

OK, the base recipe, IMHO, is a little off. I am glad I read the reviews before making, my modifications to this recipe were:
3 garlic cloves (not four
1 tsp Kosher salt (not 1.5
1 fresh squeezed lemon
and it was good! Then, I freelanced:
+1 tablespoon EV olive oil
+3/4 teaspoon chipotle en adobe
+2 tablespoons chickpea liquid from reserve (total 4 liquid, no water
If you like spicy, try my freelanced - otherwise still consider reducing the lemon and salt - as reduced it was still a little salty.
