Good recipe, but I'm surprised Ina didn't mention that other favorite beverages can be poured over ice, such as soda or fruit juice. Perhaps those are being held back for future recipes.

I don't own a coffee machine so I just stirred the grounds into the water. I let it cool in the fridge, and then served over ice. It was okay, a little gritty,I think maybe the taste was off because I only used 5 cups of water.

I love this recipe. Definitely a favorite "back to school" treat! Although I think my jug of coffee took 2 hours to cool completely, do you think that there is something wrong with my generic grocery store coffee beans? They weren't flavored, maybe that was the problem :(

I'm so thankful for this informative recipe! All this time I've been pouring dry coffee beans over ice - I've thought it was a little crunchy, and wondered what I could do to improve it. I'll have to remember to buy Ina a pair of shoes to show my gratitude.

I think what she needs to remind people of is that average or poor quality tastes awful cold. I only use columbian reserve del patron or Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee for cold coffee. The stuff is hard to find so I buy it online at jamaicanblue.ca

Iced coffee should be cold brewed, not hot brewed, to get the proper extraction of flavors from the beans. This might be a tasty recipe, but it's not quite the real deal. Sorry.

It's best to sweeten with a simple syrup; I brew mine at double strength and cool it in the fridge. You can go with a classic simple syrup, or try making a flavored one that will enhance the flavor of your coffee. You could make an orange or lemon simple syrup to put in African coffees from Kenya (my favorites for iced coffee. You can add any milk you want, and then put it in a cocktail shaker if you have one. If not just stir well and enjoy!

I would have liked some suggestions on sweetening this up, and adding either milk or cream to the idea. I have more questions now than answers.

I was hoping for something more interesting than "Pour cold coffee over ice".
