"OMG" this is soo delicious and so easy to make. I made it this morning for the first time it it came out so perfect. I've tried other receipes in the past, with no success. This is definitely the best ever and no need to look for another receipe. This is a keeper. And the orange zest, as Emeril would say, it kicked it up a notch. If you read this Ina, How do I find out when or where you will have a next book signing.

This bread was very easy to make and did not take long. I substituted orange extract for the orange peel and I used two large eggs instead of one extra large egg. Additionally, I used bread flour instead of all-purpose flour. It cooked in 45 minutes and was very good. It had a little sweet flavor and was great with breakfast. This is a wonderful way to make homemade bread. I will keep this recipe and make it again and again.

I just made the bread this afternoon, it's almost gone now. Me and my husband loved it, from now on it will be a staple in our household. At first I was a little skeptical since the dough was pretty firm, but it turned out great. In the past I baked a lot of different breads, this one is definitely the very best. I also used raisins instead of currants. Thanks Ina !!!

I made this recipe with 1/2 all-purpose and 1/2 wheat flour. I loved the taste and texture. The currants are great, I was hesitant about the orange zest but thought "Trust Ina". It's fabulous with the orange zest; makes it much better than regular Irish Soda Bread. (Tastes great with butter or a little orange marmalade, toasts well too. Thanks again Ina, you truly are the best!

I made this bread after seeing it on a show I recorded last week. It was easy like she said, but I was a little worried at how wet the dough was. It was running off my counter almost. I added quite a bit of flour to make it manageable. So it didn't look at pretty but it turned out great and was so tasty! It reminds me of a scone. I didn't have any currants, so I chopped up some golden raisins and they were just as good. Will definitely make again, my husband ate almost the whole loaf!

I saw Ina make this today and I just had to make it. My 15 year old son was watching it with me. Well I went right into the kitchen and made it. I just cut it and gave my son some and he loves it. The texture and the taste are so good. I will be making this a lot for our morning coffee.

..as well as the orange zest which perks up the dense bread and gives it a fresh taste. Ina is the best!

I have been making Ina's recipe for Irish Soda Bread for some time. It turns out to perfection every time--the best I have ever eaten. I bake two loaves at a time so that I can use up the entire quart of buttermilk. After the bread cools, I slice it and then slice each individual slice in half and place in a baggie and freeze. My husband and I eat a piece of bread every morning--putting the frozen slices directly from the freezer right into the toaster oven on "toast" and it tastes like freshly baked bread every time. You will never see my freezer without Irish Soda Bread. Incidentally, we are both IRISH! LOVE THIS RECIPE...
