I read the reviews about this not being authentic, etc. Having never had Irish soda bread before, I have nothing to compare it to. All I can say is this was delicious.

I lost my original recipe and tried Ina's. Absolutely delicious. It was simple and ingredients were easy to get. I did however add 5 tablespoons of sugar. Definitely a keeper.

I made this last week and found the dough way too wet. It poured into the cast iron pan like a very thick cake batter. We didn't like it and don't know what I did wrong. I've made many Irish Breads in my life but this was nothing like the previous ones and I won't make it again.

I just made this recipe and it is in the oven right now. I am a bit concerned about how wet the dough was. The recipe calls for turning out onto a "well floured" board. It would be better to get a description of how wet the dough will be after doing so. I found it to be very sticky and wasn't sure if I should add more flour. I didn't and it was seriously messy. I hope it tastes good.

This is the first time I have tried making Irish Soda Bread. I have always bought it from the store. Never again! This bread was the easiest to make! Once the bread had cooled a little but, still warm, I cut a piece. It was the most delicious bread I have ever eaten. This will be my go to recipe from now on. Ina did not disappoint again. Her recipes are awesome. Thanks Ina!

I've made many an Irish soda bread and this was my first failure. Followed the recipe exactly but ended up with what would be better suited as a door stop or boat anchor. It was not over-mixed either. Also, it lacked flavor.

I am only giving it 3 stars because I made a mistake. I forgot to add the butter when the recipe called for it and added it in after the liquid ingredients. It looked beautiful but I thought this was too bland. It needed more sugar and it also was very gummy. But that could hgave been my fault. I'll try it again adding the ingredients in the correct order next time.

Very tasty! I have made soda breads in the past and haven't cared for them. I only made this one because of the St. Patrick's Day tradition. It was excellent! I will definitely make it again. The only change was that I substituted raisins for currants.
