This is a good Irish soda bread, but once I tried another version with dried fruit, this one tasted a little dry. Check out "Fruity Irish Soda Bread" from the food network kitchens.

so easy and so good. if you have problems getting it to form because it's too sticky, you need to add more flour while kneading. eventually it will come together. this is like a no fail recipe, kinda like a big scone!

I'm sure this is a lovely recipe judging from the ingredients, but please don't call it 'Irish Soda Bread.' Real soda bread contains flour, bread soda, buttermilk and salt. That's it. No eggs, no butter, no fruit, no sugar. This is almost a dessert bread, but Irish Soda Bread it isn't

Fantastic! I couldn't find currants at the supermarket so I used raisins and still this bread came out great. My husband now wants me to make it at least once a week it was so good.
A little messy/sticky but easy to make and again a great bread!

Ina does it again. This was moist & flavorful unlike other recipes that I have tried. I don't have a stand mixer, just used my hands. I also added 2 tsp of caraway seeds, didn't have milk used heavy cream (Added 1 tbs lemon juice to it, and added baking powder. It came out nice & crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. Try it!!

I made this for a St. Patrick's Day meal. Everyone loved it, it was moist and held together nicely. I don't have a mixer with a paddle attachement so I used a hand mixer and it worked fine.

I try a new soda bread recipe every St. Patrick's Day trying to find one that doesn't turn out like cardboard. I am happy to say I will have to look no more-this will be my permanent recipe.
It turned out moist and the dough was easy to work with. I baked at high altitude and it still turned out perfectly. I didn't have a paddle attachment so I just worked the butter in the old fashioned way and that worked just fine as well.

Just made this today. Fantastic recipe. Not goopy here. Made with my kitchen aide and used the paddle attachment. Key is well floured board and hands to knead into a round. Be sure to use buttermilk and shake before pouring into measuring cup. Also baked on Sil pat. Came out perfect. Yummo!!!!!!!!!

This was delicious bread. The flavor of the orange zest was great. Will definitely make again. Thank you for another awesome recipe.

Delicious and I'm not typically a huge fan of Irish Soda Bread. I will say, although tasty, it was NOT pretty! I guess I have no idea how to evenly knead the dough. Half of it seperated from the rest of the loaf but...no matter, I will make this again and felt really proud to make my first "bread" recipe. Thanks, Ina!
