This soup is delicious and super quick and easy to make but the soup was a little bland. I ended up adding extra spices like parsely and italian seasoning to it to spruce it up. After re-reading the reviews, it looks like I forgot the dill. Maybe that's what was missing??? The recipe is definitely worth making again. I think I'll use chicken broth instead of stock next time for extra flavor. The meatballs were FANTASTIC. I have since made just the meatballs. I doubled the recipe and used 1/2 for for meatball sandwiches (YUM! and froze the other 1/2 to use for a future spaghetti dish.

This soup is terrific! The whole family likes it, it is warm, easy and healthy too! I used spinach noodles for a bit more extra healthy ingredients! Try this - you will love it and want to marry this soup!

as usual, i was looking for a recipe to get the general proportions, and i thought ina's use of chicken sausage was intriguing. i made the recipe exactly as it's listed except i substituted ground turkey for the ground chicken, and WOW was it delicious. the dill--as other reviewers have mentioned--is a really important part of the flavor, though i couldn't find fresh dill and ended up using something I found in a squeeze tube in the produce section of the supermarket: no worse for the wear. making the meatballs in the oven instead of browning them in a skillet took a lot of the hassle i was expecting out of the recipe. this was easy and indulgent. we enjoyed it as a dinner with a good loaf of bread and then had leftovers to take for lunch.

This recipe is so simple to make, yet the taste is fantastic. My family raved about this soup. It looks and tastes like you worked forever on this--not so. Again Ina never lets me down.

I had never heard of this soup before I saw Ina making it on her show. I had discerning guests for dinner last night, and decided to give it a try. It was fabulous. Interesting to make; great ingredients; easy to put together. The result was superb. I served it with crusty homemade wholewheat bread, and my guests and I were well pleased.

I used our homemade pork sausage and regular ground pork for the meat balls. They turned out fab. The broth was great, I just added a few bouillion cubes for extra flavor, other than that I made no other changes, no need....the dill and wine made all the difference...I LOVE INA!!!

I agree with all previous posts in that the meatballs were amazing. My husband and I had to stop ourselves from eating them all up before adding them into the soup! I was able to find uncooked chicken italian sausage (TJs and that made the whole dish in my opinion. The broth was okay - not super flavorful and needed quite a bit more seasoning at the end. It also helped to grate the suggested additional parmesean over each bowl when serving. As with most soups, the flavor improved after a few days in the fridge. I will definitely make the meatballs again, but not so sure about the soup.

My husband and I love soup, and we tried this several months ago. We've been making them 2-3 times a month now!!! Thanks Ina, you're the best. This soup also freezes well.

The soup was gone before it hit the table. Also, I would like to thank Ina for the meatball recipe which I have made 4 times since I saw the show. I used them to make meatball sandwiches for my teenage kids....The sandwiches were consumed in seconds.

Please keep working on bringing such fine and not so complicated recipes to my table.
