I am not a good baker, but these cookies came out so great! I followed Ina's exact recipe and the dough was perfect and so were the cookies. My 5-year-old daughter and I had so much fun baking these that they will now become our tradition. And the house smelled so great!

I made these cookies last Christmas for the first time, they are some of the BEST cookies I've ever baked or eaten, I had one brother that didn't care for them too much.....But what does he know! Despite the hard to work with dough, Im getting ready to make them for my family's Easter celebration. They have an almost nest-like look to them, and I think my brother might even love them the second time around! Thanks Ina for all of your wonderful recipes!

My dough came out a little different each time, will try the tips others left here (egg yolk, water. I only had salted butter so I only added a small pinch of salt the first time, came out great. Does anyone know how long this dough could be kept in the freezer for future use?

I normally love these cookies but these were awful. The cookie was too thick and doughy and the coconut did not work at all.

I made these cookies for the first time this Christmas to give out as gifts. They were absolutely delicious! They smelled wonderful and even family members that did not like coconut loved them. I will make a variety next year with both coconut and nuts as well as different flavored jams. Yummy!!!

I had the same troubles with the dough as everyone else, but they came out pretty good. The coconut is that little extra something that makes these cookies special. I used raspberry, blueberry and pineapple jam. The pineapple with the coconut was excellent...would be perfect for a tropical themed party. You have to have patience with this recipe - prepping, chilling and baking (20 min per batch...holy hanna...hope you have a good book to read with all of that down time, but they are definitely worth it. The hints to not coat the whole thing with coconut definitely helped, and I was surprised that mine turned out like the picture. Love you Ina!!

I made these cookies yesterday for a family cookie exchange. They turned out wonderful. I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of using strawberry jam. I also rolled half of them in finely crushed pecans. They were one of the first cookies to disappear from the many trays of cookies. They are even better the next day. This cookie will become a favorite all year round, as well as a new Holiday tradition. Thank you Ina for such a simple and delightful cookie recipe.
