I made these for the first time in 2007 during the holiday party season and my friends loved them. One person took a half dozen home with her and put them in the freezer so she could ration them out (to herself! for a few weeks. Yes, they do freeze very well and she reported back that I need to make a double batch this year for her party! Thanks Ina! These were a hit.

I've been making these Jam Thumprints for 4 yrs now and every year I get nothing but rave reviews. The recipe works perfect if you follow Ina's direction and use good ingredients. My friends and family can't wait for me to send them their batch of fresh baked cookies at Christmas time. Thanks Ina.

Does anyone know if this cookie f reezes well? I've made them many times and just love them. I want to get a "head start" this year on the baking and was wondering once made, can I freeze these to save for Christmas?

I am a professional pastry chef. These are awesome cookies! Here's my advice: When you separate the egg to make the wash, save the yolk to add to the dough.Add a pinch more salt. You should not have to refrigerate the dough if you've added enough flour. Make a ball - if it sticks too much, add more flour. Form the balls, put them on the baking sheet and form the indent. Then put the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 5 minutes. Take out and dip in the egg wash, dip in the coconut (don't do the bottom - it will burn, then fill with the jam. Bake for 17 minutes. While the first one is baking you can be making the next batch and freezing it. Be creative with the fillings! The cookie is wonderfully buttery. Great recipe.

I've had people offer to pay me 30 bucks for a batch of these. There are no words. Incredible!

This has become my favorite cookie. It is a wonderful mixture of everything yummy in the world and shouldn't be missed, even if some have become intimidated from reading any prev. reviews. This is a shortbread cookie. Anyone who has made shortbread knows that it's supposed to be crumbly, otherwise you don't get that delicate texture. If you really take your time you can get the picture "perfect" results, however I like the rustic look of the cracks on the sides. I have used many different kinds of jam in the past and our favorite is really good gourmet apricot. It sets of the sweetness of the cookie and coconut beautifully. I can't say enough, just try them!

This was the most wonderful recipe! I had just recently purchased a commerical mixer and this was the first recipe I had made with it. I was apprehensive at first, but the directions were wonderful and the dough turned out "fabulous"! I made these to give away along with other cookies at Christmas and everyone LOVED them, including my husband who tries to stay away from sweets (he kept coming back for more! The dough keeps well overnight in the fridge if in airtight bag. I have decided that next year this will be the ONLY cookie I make and give away. Thanks Ina!

First, these are extremely easy to make and came out exactly like the picture. To be honest, I really don't think I am much of a cookie person (never really liked choc chip cookies, which is unusual! and I think this cookie proved that, only because I thought they were ok (very nice and buttery but EVERYONE at our Super Bowl party, even the guys, went absolutely crazy over them !!! They were gone in 5 minutes and everyone wanted the recipe. I am giving this recipe 5 stars based on my friends' reactions.

I have made these several times now and have followed someof the others advice to not put the coconut on the bottom. It I had a good oven or a convection oven I probably would. I just cover the top and there is not any burning. I also mix the ingredients by hand because I found using the mixer made the dough much tougher, even with the paddle attachment. Everytime I make and give away, I get compliments. thanks Ina

I make these every year for the holidays along with 4 other kinds of cookies. They are time consuming, but are ALWAYS the first to go and people rave about them. A suggestion on the recipe is not to chill the dough because it tends to crack when you try to make the hole for jelly. It works out better if the dough is soft and pliable. They turn out perfect!
