These were great!! Such a perfect little Christmas cookie. The dough was very crumbly, but after chilling, I thought it held together fine with no additional ingredients.

...the cookie crumbles. Though they came out delicious, I had the same problem another reader had with the dough being a little too crumbly. I followed the directions to a T, except I had to combine the ingredients with a spoon, since I'm not lucky enough to have a fancy food processor. The ingredients were blended well, but maybe that made the difference.

The hardest part was forming them into balls without them falling apart when I squeezed them or when I tried to make the thumbprints.

Any ideas? Maybe adding a few teaspoons of water? Or do I need to invest in expensive equipment?

These are the best cookies I have ever made! I've been making these cookies for over one year now and this is the only cookie my family & friends ask for. It's a must!

A great cookie. If you flatten your dough into a 4 x 8 inch rectangle before chilling, you can easily cut 1 inch rows of evenly sized pieces to get 32 cookies. I made 64 1/2 oz. cookies and baked for 13 minutes--for a more bite-sized treat, since these are so rich.
