The cookies were very tasty, but I found the dough crumbled and it was difficult to get together.

This easy, no fuss recipe was a hit this holiday. I was able to package individual bags for all of my co-workers as the Contessa suggested. They raved about delscious they were and I even got a "these have got to be the best cookies I have ever had!'

Now talk about an ego boost for the novice baker!

These cookies looked so good on the show, I had to make them. They are amazingly delicious and fun to make.

I chilled them for 30 minutes as the recipe called for, but next time I will just roll them right away, as the dough is very easy to work with. And I noticed I had to reshape the cookies after I made my thumbprints. The dough tended to crack when I pushed down because they were so chilled. I think it would be easier if they were a little more pliable at room temperature.

The egg wash is a perfect glue and the coconut sticks perfectly. The presentation of these cookies is very impressive and they taste as great as they look! I can't decide which taste is better, the apricot jam or the raspberry. This recipe is definitely a keeper, especially for beautiful gifts! Thanks, Ina!!

I made these last year for a cookie exchange at work. They turned out perfectly... just like Ina made. They are very pretty.

If people are having problems with them burning they should get an oven thermometer and see if their oven temp is accurate. Also an aluminum cookie sheet works better than a dark one for me. Good quality butter (not margarine makes a difference in the flavor too.

I had a hard time forming the ball if the butter was not soft enough. Also, they tended to come out a little try, but had an amazing flavor.

These are probably the easiest cookies (with the best result that I've made in a long time. Simple ingredients and fast.

My only qualm with this recipe is that after putting in the alloted amount of flour, I found it to be a bit dry, so when I went to put the cookie together it wanted to crumble. I persevered and they came out really good!

this is a well known, old fashioned recipe. I burnt the 1st batch. Butter & coconut burn quickly. Upon modification, they were fine & deelish.
roll only the TOP of cookies in coconut or ground walnuts. We always incorporated ground nuts into dough.
They r tastier with ground walnuts.
Also, bake on top shelf to insure bottoms wont burn. Bake @ min. time. My oven is fine. The recipe needed to be modified. Ina may be rich, but burning a batch of butter cookies is expensive to me. Butter isnt cheap.

These cookies turned out great! I followed some of the suggestions, like not putting the coconut on the bottom and I also added orange zest to the dough after I creamed the butter. These are definitely on the cookie list for next year!
