Excellent recipe! Followed the recipe exactly and they were perfect. I was worried after I read some of the reviews, but I had no problems at all. Loved them!

Rich and satisfying with plenty of lemon zing! I added 1 tsp. vanilla to the shortbread. I love this recipe and I will bake it again.

Lemon bars are one of the first things I made over 30 years ago when I became an ardent home baker. I used my mother's recipe and everyone loved them. I lost my mom's recipe a couple of years ago and have been hunting for the perfect recipe ever since, always with dissapointment. Ina's surpasses my mothers! The filling is perfectly tart, velvety, rich and cuts beautifully. I read the reviews before baking and used 2 of the suggestions with great satisfaction, add egg yolk to crust and only one tablespoon of zest. Yummmmmm!

This was my first attempt in makeing these from scratch. WOW I'll never go back to the box again!! Simple, easy and soooooo tasty! You will not be the same once you've made these!!

Oh my gosh, these bars are amazingly good! My roommate loved them too! The shortbread crust made a big difference in taste. Don't care for lemon flavored baked goods but Lemon bars is always an exception. Besides the fact I haven't made/nor had lemon bars in a good amount of time so it was lemony bliss! After reading the reviews about the crust, I had pretty good luck. Most of the bottom stayed intact but experienced some loss. There were quiet a bit of crumbles when transferring them from the pan to container (that's a lot of waste, which I tried to recoup, but got a tummy ache. Bad idea. That's the only reason I didn't rate it excellent, but overall, it was excellent in taste. Didn't even want to share with my coworkers! Maybe next time????

Great recipe - I would probably put in 1 T of zest instead of 2 T next time as it did get a little bitter aftertaste, even though I was very careful to only get the zest and not the pith. Texture was perfect and I loved the shortbread crust. I did not have any trouble with it crumbling.
