Mixed reviews with these lemon bars. Mostly heard they were too sweet and had the consistency of a thick jelly. I am a big fan of Ina and lemon bars, but these just weren't the best.

If you like lemon bars and didn't like these then you didn't make them right!
I always take them to our family Thanksgiving weekend and EVERYONE loves them.

This was my first time making lemon bars and it came out pretty good. The crust was flaky and buttery, the filling was sweet and tart, and the powder sugar topped it all off! I had a problem with the top layer browning and crystalizing. I think I will cover the filling (in the pan with plastic wrap (touching the surface and refrigerate for 5-10 minutes. That should help to remove that top bubbly layer. Also, the dish stuck to the sides of the pan, so I ended up cutting the lemon bars about 1/2 inch away from the edge and tossing the edges out. The middle of the pan didn't set very well (maybe the convection oven??, so I refrigerated the dish after it cooled some. I took them to work and they were a hit!! Will DEFINITELY make again, with a few variations

This is my favorite lemon bar recipe, and I've used it successfully several times. I would recommend using a tart lemon for lemony flavor. The one time I tried Meyer lemons, the bars came out a little too sweet. Be careful not to over bake the crust, it can come out chewy.

I made these for family members visiting recently. My brother-in-law loved these so much he ate half the pan in less than 24 hours.

My baking experience does not get more complicated than the Betty Crocker creations. On my day off I decided to give myself a chance at baking from scratch. I love lemons bars and made a bath of the contessa's recipe. Great Success. I ate a lemon bar a day for a week (so did my boyfriend! I will definitely try it again. They sure were lemony, I did get a slight bitter taste at the end of my bites, but I must have zested those lemons to the bone.

Very lemony, but too jelly-like. I have lemon trees, so I was on a quest to find the best lemon bar recipe I could. I've tried at least 8, and sorry to say these were good, but they were not the best. My kids and my husband are my testers and they didn't love these.

This is a wonderful recipe. Family members still compliment me on these - three years after I brought them to a family function. Worth the extra time they take.

Whenever I decide to add a recipe to my repetoire I make sure I try out a few before I decide and this was the best by far. The crust was light and buttery, the filling tart and sweet. I took them to a b-b-q and they were a hit. One tip...make sure you press the crust high enough up the side of the pan to accomodate all of the filling. I did not do this the first time I made the recipe and had left over filling which I put in a dish, baked and felt forced to eat all by myself :-!

I have mixed feelings about this recipe. I love them BUT so does everyone else. Now everytime I get invited to a party I have to make these lemon bars. How anyone could rate them 1 star is beyond me - maybe they need to take some basic baking classes. Ina rates them "medium" difficulty - the only thing difficult about them is stopping eating them.
