I was house sitting for a dear married couple and decided to bake in their kitchen to entertain myself. I looked in their fridge and noticed a fresh bag of lemons in the crisper drawer. I thought to myself, I oughta make lemon bars. I left a note for them to help themselves to the rest of the lemon bars I had left behind. Low and behold, the next time I housesat for them, they had taken upon themselves to buy more lemons and left me a note to, 'Feel free to bake more lemon bars' . This recipe is a keeper!

These were easy to make and so incredibly delicious. I made these for Thanksgiving and they were a big hit. Everyone loved them. They were so great, with a yummy crust, and just enough sweetness and tartness. I am definitely making these again soon.

These lemon bars are delicious! I had the same problem though as a couple reviewers, where my edges browned too fast, and then I removed it from the oven before the middle had completely set. It was less firm and more of a lemon meringue texture, but still delicious. My pan is nonstick and I wonder if the darkness of the pan caused the edges to brown faster. Did the other people who had this problem also use dark pans? Next time I might try cooking on a lower heat for a longer time and hope it cooks a bit more evenly.

The first time I made lemon bars, I used Sara Moulton's recipe. I thought they were delicious, and I was actually going to use the same recipe, when I decided to check out Ina's recipe. I know this is from an old show, but I'm just now getting around to lemon bars, again. Anyway, Ina's recipe is, hands down, the best of the best! These lemon bars have everything: a flaky and wonderful shortbread crust, a fabulous tart, lemony, creamy filling, and they cut into perfect pieces. I only had one problem...the same problem another reviewer had. When I left them cooling and unattended, I returned to the kitchen to find an entire row gone! It's just me and my husband here...and he wasn't talking.

I had high hopes after reading all the great reviews. They looked great tasted good, but the texture was yucky. It tasted like a sticky jelly bean on top of short bread.

These are the most delicious, scrumptious, moist, tangy, sweet, zest lemony lemon bars I have ever tasted.
The recipe was super easy and a breeze to make. The best lemon bars ever! If you want to make boring lemon bars, stick with the box.....but if you want to make OUT OF THIS WORLD lemon bars stick with Ina!
AMAZING!!!

I am making these right now, and the dough is in the pan sitting in the fridge. The last time I made these, I left them unsupervised for ONE hour, and when I came back, they were all gone! turns out my cousin brought some friends over, and they ate them!
