holy cow!!! SO good!!
it tasted like something out of a restaurant.
I am still waiting for the curd to set, but i snuck a piece and it just made my eyes roll...
I only had 3 lemons on hand when I was making it, so I only managed to squeeze out half a cup of lemon juice instead of the 1 cup she uses in the recipe.
Even using less lemon juice, i did not feel cheated out of any lemon flavor. The dessert was very, very lemony and good.
I just loved it. I have made Ina's scones, muffins, apple tart and peach cake I honestly think she is a genius. Each recipe really was a homerun. I made her brownies for a party, and every last brownie that wasnt eaten was taken home by guests. I recommend you look into all of the aforementioned recipes, not just this one.

I have made this recipe 4 times now, and it is very very tasty. The lemon balances with the sugar (in my opinion. If you over cook the bars they will turn hard and gel like. But if you let them stay slightly liquidy and smushy, then put them in the refrigerator overnight they are perfect. I like cold lemon bars anyways and by that time the consistency is harder. The crust is also incredible, probably bc of all that butter, you could probably scale that down but I have never veered from this recipe.

These were awful. We followed the simple recipe and the comments about reducing the sugar. These had great lemon flavor...however, the custard part was gummy and the crust was tasteless with almost a wet consistency. I have always had great luck with Ina's recipes but these lemon bars were terrible. Unfortunately, we were taking them to a party and we didn't realize how bad they were until we were walking out the door. How embarrassing and what a waste of cooking time and money!

Wish I had read the other comments about the sugar...will use less next time as they were too sweet for my taste. However, my husband loves them..anything lemon will be a hit with him and these bars were especially good in his opinion. Think I left it in the oven a little too long as the center was more sticky than I had anticipated.

My boyfriend's father loves lemon desserts and I made these for him and it was a hit! I've made these about three times now and incase you're new at this like I was, make sure not to over cook it, it gets gel like and is not very appetizing.

These bars have great flavor, but I prefer an even ratio of buttery crust to lemon filling. These are 1/4 crust and 3/4 filling. The tartness or sweetness concerns from other reviews comes down to the lemons used and personal preference. Which is really hard to gauge until after they are done.

These came out perfect! The only revision I made was that I used 1/2 cup less sugar because I prefer tanginess to sweetness and it was absolutely yummy! Thanks Ina for another great recipe!

Make lemon bars every year for 4th of July but wanted a new recipe. This recipe was DELICIOUS! Absolutely the best I have ever found. I had not read any of the reviews before today - agree it was a little too sweet so will try the 1/4 less sugar although was thinking 1/2 cup. Was pleasantly surprised by the top crust. My whole family loved these! Ready to make another batch.

Good, though not great. We heeded most of the comments about sweetness adding 1/4 cup less sugar and it was delicious. I found the crust a bit disappointing. I think if I had cooked it a little longer it may have been better.
