I have made this recipe multiple times and will continue to. It is delicious. A little messy putting it together, but you can clean all that up while it is in the oven. My wife and daughter absolutely love it, especially the edge pieces with a little crunch and carmelization. I usually make it without the mushrooms, but it is delicious either way. We have served it in a lot of situations and it always gets raves. Leftovers are great also.

This is really expensive to make (all that fancy cheese, but totally worth it. Just the smell of it made my rommates' mouths water AND two of my friends who absolutely hate mushrooms loved this and didn't even pick them out! A beautiful grown-up mac and cheese that is totally worth the time, money, and effort!

It is very tasty, very creamy. Only advice, don't add all that salt. we also did it just with mozzarella cheese and it worked wonderful.

Trader Joe's offers an italian truffle cheese that's easy and affordable substitute for the truffle butter and you don't have to worry about losing the truffle flavor in the roux. Great recipe. I also added caramelized onions to it.

This is an awesome recipe. Served this at a party, and it was a smash. I did everything to get it in the pan, then baked it just before dinner. Wonderful! I doubled the garlic in the topping as we love garlic. Be careful when making the roux with the truffle butter; a high temperature will destroy the delicate truffle flavors.
Bravo!

Very disappointing. I make most of Ina's recipes but this one just doesn't do it for me. After buying all the expensive ingredients all I could taste was the mushrooms the cheeses got lost, sorry Ina:(

I have 5 different mac and cheese recipes but this is now the new family favorite. I made this recipe as a side dish to our St. Paddy's Day dinner of corned beef and cabbage. I called my three grown children and said, "A new recipe from Ina". Yup, everyone was there with bells on their feet. It was AWESOME!! The mushrooms with sherry, the truffle butter and the combination of the two cheeses is what made the difference. The ingredients were expensive, but well worth it. Thank you Ina, another great family dining experience!! I always follow Ina's recipes exactly as posted and they always turn out great.
