    Turned out great! My man went back for thirds!! I did use regular butter instead of truffle butter and smoked gruyere instead of regular gruyere. Loved the herby crunchy top too :

    I had this last night at a potluck and it might be the best mac & cheese I've ever had! Ths sauce was creamy but not too rich and heavy. I also love the flavor of the mushrooms. And the crunchy garlicky topping was excellent. it was so good I felt compelled to review this once the host told me where she got the recipe. I'll have to try this myself next time!

    It was great. I substituted baby bell mushrooms for shitake, and I didn't have truffle butter, but used an unsalted butter with a little truffle salt that I had to get the truffle flavor. I would definitely cook this again.

    I love this recipe. I have made it many times for friends and everyone else loves it too. The truffle butter is hard to find so I substitute white truffle oil and sometimes saute the mushrooms with a little fresh thyme.

    My family loves mac and cheese. I made this dish but added a can of cream of mushrooms and it was off the chain...Meaning great. I am lactose intolerate but I had a double serving of mac and cheese. I knew that my stomach would hurt the next day but it was great... This is my new mac and cheese recipe....Thanks Ina keep up the great job.

    Excellent! I love the taste of truffles and this has the right mix of everything. The earthy richness of truffle and mushroom and the creamy goodness of mac and cheese. Yum

    I made this recipe and it turnout pretty good for the first 4 bites after that, i couldnt handle anymore. the source was to thick with the cheese, the mushrooms where good. but the whole thing is just o much, i wouldnt make it again.

    I made it and it was great. For those people who complain about "not enough flavor, too salty, too bland, I would suggest you actually use the ingredients that this recipe calls for (that's why it's a recipe, also, taste your food while making it, so that you can adjust it to your liking. Not everyone has the tolerance for salt, truffle, bread crumbs, etc. C'mon, use your head!

    This is one of my favorite recipes EVER--right up there with Ina's chicken with morels. I think that shopping at Trader Joe's really cuts down the cost of this recipe (as opposed to getting the cheese, mushrooms, sherry at Safeway or something. Whenever I make this, my friends just die over it. I can't believe some people say this has no flavor--I have to think they are doing something wrong or using poor quality ingredients. MAKE THIS RECIPE.
