This is off-the-charts good and so easy to make. I didn't change a thing. I'm so glad to have a simple recipe for homemade mac & cheese that is so delicious. We can't wait to go to the gym enough to make this again. :

Best version ever - I made her recipe with cooked lobster added and it was outstanding. Fresh grated nutmeg is key. I used Gruyere and Dubliner white cheddar. This will be my standard mac and cheese from now on!

Left out tomatoes because I just don't like them enough on anything. Otherwise followed exactly and oh my goodness this was delicious! My husband is not typically a fan of homemade Macaroni and Cheese. His exact words are "Give me the box kind anyday." But he really liked this! That's impressive. My 1 1/2 yr old is very picky with his macaroni as well, boxed or otherwise, and he looked like he loved it as well. Will definitely make this again! LOVE the gruyere!

Delicious! I substituted the gruyere with mozzarella and more sharp cheddar. I also omitted the tomatoes. A little grown up mac and cheese but my husband AND KIDS LOVED IT!!!! It was the EASIEST recipe ever!!! It's a keeper!!!

This was the BEST mac & cheese I have ever made! Changed it up a bit by using 2 cups each of Tillamook Extra Sharp cheddar, Jarlsberg, & Gruyere cheeses. I also added some crushed red pepper and used Italian bread crumbs over the tomatoes...FABULOUS! We were having a small party & everyone raved...thank you Ina!

I've always made this recipe with high quality cheese from WholeFoods, grated at home. Perfect and flavorable every time. My kids love it, which is a miracle in itself. Today I made the recipe with pre-grated cheese and followed the ounces on the package. Here is where the bland taste comes in. If youre going to make this, grate your own fresh cheese and the taste/texture will be perfect. I didnt understand how the reviews could vary so daramatically, now I know. Also, make sure youre draining your pasta well.
