I was very excited to try this recipe, but it turned out to be a disaster. I followed the recipe perfectly - exactly how food network had posted it online and exactly how Ina had done so on television. After five minutes in the oven smoke poured into my kitchen and butter melted into the oven causing a complete mess and disaster in my kitchen. I am surprised that I was the only one to encounter this problem. I will never try this recipe again. I would hope that others read this review and try this recipe at their own risk.

I made these today and they were perfection. Scrumptious and so much better than the Maple Oatmeal Scones I get at starbucks. I had Quakers Old Fashioned Oatmeal in the cubbard, which I used rather than hiking out in the snow for the . Worked well. I did use a 3-inch round cookie cutter, but wasn't getting them a full inch thick. Maybe somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 (I was interested in reduce the calorie count per scone, which only required cooking for 15 minutes. They were cruncy on top, soft on the inside, with that delicate crunch in every bite from the whole wheat flour and the oatmeal.

This recipe is a keeper and will become part of my regular repetoire. I'm already looking forward to a scone on my way to work tomorrow.

Made a half-batch and also made them thick. They were wonderful. Flakey with a slight maple flavour. The next time I make them I think I'll add raisins or dried cherries or maybe chopped walnuts. Yum:

I've made a lot of scones and this fell short of my expectations. This was very dry tasting and not enough maple flavor,

I had high hopes for these after watching Ina make them. I love scones and the flavors of maple and oatmeal looked delicious. After reading the reviews about not enough flavor I doubled the sugar, added vanilla extract, and added a bit more maple sugar than the recipe called for and they still didn't taste like a maple scone at all! I'm so disappointed. I have good maple syrup too, not the cheap stuff. I don't think I will make these again.

Made 1/2 recipe in case we didn't like them. Should have made a full recipe. They are great. Used McCann's instant oatmeal. Didn't roll-out dough, just patted into a circle and cut in wedges. Much easier and they look more like scones. Will be making these often.

This recipe was super easy and quick! The taste was a cross between pancakes, a delicious biscuit and a sweet cinnamon roll. Wow!

These are the best scones I've ever made and I've made A LOT of scones! They were light and flaky with great flavor. I added some toasted, chopped pecans to the batter. Thank you!

Great recipe. I had trouble rolling out the dough, as it was very sticky, so I just dropped small dallops on the parchment paper with a spoon. They turned out great, really rustic looking (and a lot less work then rolling them out and using a scone cutter. I made them smaller than Ina, and ended up with about 40 small scones. My husband loved them!
