Absolutely deliciouso!!!!! Didn't have shallots; so I crisped up some baby pearl onions and sprinkled them on top..Everyone raved about it. Will definitely be on our Thanksgiving table again and then some.

Wonderful recipe. Just watch the shallots--it's not brain surgery.

I brought this to a Thanksgiving gathering and was asked to bring it back to every family function! I actually bring triple the amount of crispy shallots because my family is nuts about them!! I did burn my first batch as well (: it seems there is a very fine line and only a few seconds between crispy and burnt so watch carefully!

Be careful not to overcook the shallots-- I ended up burning them and had to leave them out :(
But even without the shallots, this was amazing- so creamy and delicious! I'm sure the shallots would have made it incredible!!

These are a family favorite. I used a mandoline to cut the shallots this time, and they turned out better than ever before. The only Thanksgiving side with no leftovers, ever. Serves 8? I don't think so.

Rutabagas are sometimes called yellow turnips... Probably doesn't hurt to substitute but you won't get the exact same flavor.

I just picked a few turnips from my garden and used them in the recipe...all I can say is this recipe is going to be used over and over again as I continue to pull in my harvest.

This was my first experience cooking turnips and I really liked the way it came out. I was surprised by the bitter flavor, the sweetness of the shallots offsets it nicely.

I couldn't wait to race out to the market to buy turnips for this dish. Wonderful is all I can say about it. Of course, you do have to enjoy this root vegetable to appreciate the dish.
